Spring Training 2015

At some point we might need a lefty who can get lefties out, but, hey, baby steps.

We have one in Outman, he's a true lefty specialist. It's just he cannot get righties out and Fredi hates that and he doesn't know how to use specialist relievers. This is why Outman seems to be about to be released. But the smart move would be to make him the tag-team partner of our new Rule 5 pick-up.

Also, I'd note two of the three hits by lefties off Outman this ST are not even legit. One was a dropped fly ball by EY Jr.

Andrew McKirahan career splits in MILB:

Vs lefties - .294 .364 .397 .761
Vs righties - .186 .252 .281 .533

So watch Fredi use him mostly vs lefties...

Hey '76, where did you find those splits? Just curious as I can't currently find a place that shows career splits for MiLB . . . just season by season.

And this was Fredi's whole problem with Russell. WONDERFUL. :facepalm:

Yea, I know. That's also why you posted what you did in response to dak after dak had said he liked him. :)

Look at it this way, if Fredi keeps this up our bullpen is bound to end up worse (maybe a lot worse) rather than such a strength. And if so that can only help the chances that Fredi is let go after this year.

And right on queue, Jaime delivers his best outing of the Spring. Hell, maybe ever. 2 IP, 1H (on a ball Simba lost in the sun), 0 BB, 1K. Was up to 98 on the radar gun.

Kurcz struck out Frenchy there with a 96 mph fastball right down the middle. I like Kurcz who y'all may recall we got in the Varvaro trade. I like his chances to be at least as good if not better than Varvaro in the future.

Yea, but it's crazy that he's even still around IMO. I gave up on him over a year ago after watching him a lot in Mississippi. And even now he's still a thrower that seems to have no idea what he's doing.

Hey dak and Dylan, maybe we should take bets on how long it takes Bowman, DOB, and Fredi to figure out that our new lefty has more extreme reverse splits than Russell. :)

@mlbbowman
McKirahan allowed three hits and didn't issue a walk while facing 12 left-handed hitters during GL play with the Marlins

My comments: This proves he is better than Outman vs lefties, trust me Bowman knows what he's talking about and ST stats are often telling. JK of course. :)
