Outman will begin the year on the DL. Would've likely been released w/ Russell had his shoulder not become an issue late in camp.

We all know what this means, but it combines with the TJS jokes in a really funny way.

Never said they sucked, but they werent perfect players the way some made it out to be.

Heyward- AMAZING defensive player but inconsistent at the plate. Maybe he puts it together with the Cards in a contract year of course.
JUp- When he's hot, almost impossible to get out, but has way too many bad spells and isnt a great defender.
Gattis- Injury prone, and not a good defender in either LF or C, had to sell while the iron is hot.

I wanted him in the rotation as well but that shipped sailed when they got Cahil. Stults has a history of solid performance so I'm fine with him getting the last spot.

Martin should get a shot out of the pen though. Not sure what he has left to show in the minors.

Contract status also plays a part.

JUp/Heyward both will probably get more than Freeman got, almost a good point, almost.

This has been beaten to death, i just dont see how you keep both, watch them walk for nothing great, and expect the team to improve alot going forward. With the way the farm system is.

No player is perfect but he knows that unless he is living in fantasy land. It seems to me he just likes to spin to argue and be annoying.

Without having the 5,000th debate on this, this simple fact cannot be debated: One of the worst, or more accurately, least productive offenses in baseball saw three of its four best hitters traded, and the replacements are less than stellar. Your cleanup options are Markakis and Chris Johnson. And last night it was Kelly Johnson.

You want to say this had to happen for the long-term health of the franchise? Go ahead. But I don't think anyone should be allowed to say this will be a more fun team to watch. I hope Freddie Freeman got his juice on because we're gonna need him to hit 75 homers.

I enjoy watching young players break into the big leagues so for me thats why it will be more fun. Last years team was extremely difficult to watch.

Besides Jace Peterson, I'm not all that thrilled about any of the young ones. And I would guess Peraza will arrive at some point, so that will be cool. But much more fun to watch those guys break in with an offense that can actually score. This is going to be incredibly bad, and if something ever happens to Freeman, holy jumping Jesus......

Until Markakis has his fourth back strain in July. Martin's gonna be hella fun watching out of long relief once every month. Maybe Cahill can regain form, but I still feel like Martin should have been given a spot in the rotation.

Hate it that Cunningham did not make the opening day roster. Just like September I guess- but maybe the Braves will bring him back soon or trade him. He deserves a shot somewhere.

Again, Mr. Obtuse misses the point. There's no need to even waste the money. Let the kid pitch. Stop trying to band-aid things.

But Cahill and all these marginal vets we've spent money on keep us in third or fourth place instead of last. 78 wins instead of 68. Keeps approximately 15 fans more per game in the seats.

It's what I've been told all offseason. That we may not win as many games, but we'll be a lot more fun to watch.
