Spring Training 2015

But that doesn't make a team that strikes out less but scores far fewer runs and hits a lot of fly balls to second base any more enjoyable to watch.

At all...

Only upside for the fans is for the first time in the while we enter a season with no expectations, which allows us to not have to be optimistic or pessimistic. It's whatever. It just sucks bad because a season is soooo long and the FO is targeting 2017...

Actually it can get worse. The Braves were bad last year and fangraphs projects the Braves to be 7 wins worse among position players. So yeah it can be a lot worse.

It was a joke, i know we'll be worse but some here act like it was a fluke what happened last year.

And before anyone mentions him... no we shouldn't get Cody Ross.

I can't help but wonder what would happen if we did. Can you imagine the atrocities of an OF with him in Center, Markakis in right and Gomes in left? For comedic purposes alone we have to consider it. Better to be lovable losers than plain old losers.

Players are real, they are living breathing beings. Projections are not, they are just numbers assigned to quantify and mean absolutely nothing. There is only one man to blame for Heyward no longer being a Brave. His name is Jason Heyward. He had the opportunity to make it impossible for the Braves to trade him due to performance. Except for the 27 homer year, he was never able to reach the untouchable status of Freeman, Kimbrel and Simmons.

He certainly had the opportunity to address his gripping tic, which could've helped him at the plate, and didn't. Now it appears he has and he looks better. Only time will tell if it makes a big difference or not.

I don't lament him being gone, and certainly not JUp. The team needed to be rebuilt and the organization restocked.

Which you have to assess the coaching staff if he's able to quickly make that change in one offseason at St. Louis. Oh wait, we chose to keep our loser manager.

He got paid, didn't he? Apparently the Braves think enough of him. Not a troll just a fan that calls it straight and accurate.

Simmons signed a 7/58 contract after his rookieish season. Hardly getting "paid" he basically made sure he would be covered through FA guaranteed if he sucks. If he got "paid" he'd make more like what Freeman or Trout got. But no, he's not that great. He was signed because he was willing to sacrifice long term earnings for financial stability. Something Jason didn't want to do.

BTW to compare simmons "getting paid"

He's set in his first 8 years in the majors to make about 57.7M. Jason in his not "getting paid" in his first 6 years has already made 17.4M. What are the odds against that he's not averaging 20M+ per year of his FA contract?

I mean, Chris Johnson "got paid"... so i guess he's in that untouchable camp, unlike the bum Heyward

All I am saying is that if the Braves thought as much of him as about half this board did, he would still be a Brave. Obviously that is not the case. Funny thing, you aren't hearing the Heyward is a "great kid" quotes and we wish him well coming from the Braves brass. Oh and on CJ I agree, should have been on first bus out of town this winter were he tradeable.

When have the Braves brass done that recently? They've constantly been one to kick someone out the door and then slam the door on their asses. Seriously aside from retired players, and maybe Ross, who had a pleasant farewell from Atlanta? Leo Mazzone? Frank Wren? Dan Uggla? Jeff Francoeur? Derek Lowe? Bob Wickman? Could go on from here but I think you should by now get the point. Braves use you, abuse you, then tell you to go **** yourself all too often. The fact they haven't done that with Jason and Justin indicates they're probably decent guys the Braves pray they'll have a chance at again.
