GDT: 4/7/'15 - Atlanta Braves (Wood) @ Miami Marlins (Latos) 7:35PM EST

I seriously doubt that everything through 2013 was just a facade and 2014 were his true intentions on how to build a team. Strikeouts weren't the problem in 2014. The problem is we had crappy hitters who happened to strike out.

No, the team was somewhere in the middle of both seasons. A mediocre team.

And strikeouts are ok as long as you don't have a whole team that does it which is essentially what Wren built.

thethe, do you actually believe the **** that you type?

I think he does for the most part but there are times where it spirals out of control. Like he wants to support the rebuild so he has to say over the top things in support. Then when those points are countered, he has to go even further over the top. Then the vicious cycle occurs.

The Braves won well over 90 games in 2013. So now they just got lucky that other teams were bad?

I think the Nationals falling apart puts the 2013 season into a different light. That was certainly not the true Nationals team since the year prior/year after/and most likely this year will see a Nationals team that wins 94+ games.

Every single thing I post I believe. We could all get together and I will say the same exact things. What is the point of "lying" on a message board?

The Nationals won 86 games that year. The difference between them winning that many and over 90 games is that we completely owned them.

I've made this point about 30 times and it falls on deaf ears. 2014 was the only thing that happened in the last 5 years

I don't know if the problems can be attributed to "Wren's teams," because he was here longer than 2013 and 2014, but over the last part of his tenure, our better fundamental hitters--Chipper, Prado, and McCann--were replaced with guys who, while good hitters, were more feast-or-famine types (J. Upton, C. Johnson, Gattis). I think that's the biggest difference. When you add the feast-of-famine types to a flailing M. Upton and a declining Uggla, things just seemed to become more sporadic. I think the most damning stat is our swing-and-miss rate at pitches in the strike zone. If you can't put strikes in play, you're going to have problems.

So a team good enough to make the wild card and go on a run like the Royals did last year? Wren's Braves were one of the winningest teams in the league for about 5 years up until around the all-star break last season. If you want to say he doesn't deserve much credit because he got handed elite level talent then so be it. But you and many others praised him for recognizing not to trade away such elite talent while they were still in the minors and and wait to build around them once they got to the big league level.

I would say I'm surprised about all the negative remarks that Wren has gotten is surprising considering all the good he did for the franchise after JS wrecked the team trying to keep alive a division title streak that was more important to him then the future of the franchise. But it is the Braves Way to trash former players and employees.

And that they had a fluky season which wasn't a true indication of how good they were which is why that season is going to be sandwiched around a bunch of 94+ win seasons.

Good for us. We capitalized on a fluky year for the Nats with our own fluky year. Too bad we couldn't capitalize in the playoffs.

Then why did you argue with me that the Braves were better at the time?

I've bashed JS plenty in the past about those trades he made. But based on what I've read the past few months I feel sick to my stomach how I supported Wren.

I wouldn't call it lying. More exaggeration than anything.

Then why did you argue with me that the Braves were better at the time?

Because in the moment it was fun and as you get older you learn. Everyone will criticize me but I fully believe baseball is moving away from the steroid era and that old philosophy of walks and homeruns will be gone.

Walks are still important because it translates to long AB's but power hitters that are trying ot hit homeruns are not how I want to build my team.

Yes, and when Hart moves on you'll read about the ex-braves-itis and get sick to your stomach again. Your stomach is always in support of the here and now

You are unbelievably dumb.

Not a chance. Wren chased out Roy Clark and based on what you want to believe made Bobby not want to be the manager anymore. Those put you on my ****list. But continue to throw unnecessarily amount of criticism my way because we differ on our political beliefs. Something you have done for a long time now.

So the Braves were fluky for 4 years while having one fo the winningest records in the game during that time frame?

LOL what? Almost nobody on this board agrees with my political beliefs

Just to be clear, thethe is not dumb. He's a smart guy. He's just an incredible homer to the degree I'm not sure I have ever seen. So, I like to give him crap about it bc it is entertaining.

thethe, if the Braves acquired a bunch of power hitters this offseason, I 100% believe your narrative would be "Im older and I've learned. Power hitters are going to be so rare and we have a ton of them."

They were probably not as good as the team in 13 and not as bad as 14.

That being said the team was way too flawed. Relied too much on homers and didn't work enough counts, draw walks, etc.

Aka situational baseball.

Lineup for top pitchers was so easy to pitch too.
