Just saw the scene that you were referring to with De'Angelo and Stringer. Hot damn that's some acting right there by Gilliard. WHERE'S WALLACE.
Did Simon come up with most of the dialogue? Some of this stuff like the pay-less lawyer thing is great.

I want to say he did come up with most of it, but I believe I heard that Gilliard winged a lot of that scene.
A lot of the dialogue on this show seems like it could be improv which makes it even seem more fantastic.

If I'm not mistaken, Gilliard grew up in Baltimore. So he knew the neighborhoods and the street talk.

I've got 3 episodes left. I'd love to have them done by now, but I'm slowed down by the GF. We're averaging about an episode a night. It's a fantastic show overall. The direction alone is brilliant, and Denorfia is amazing. I won't say too much more to avoid spoilers, but he's fantastic.

It is a toss-up. Shh, don't spoil it for Sav. I'd say Season 4 or Season 1 is the best overall season, but it was all a continuous build. This discussion is making me want to rewatch again.

I could get seriously boring talking about that show.
On season 3 now, man McNulty really stuck it to De'Angelo's mom in that office. Interested to see how this plays out. Seems like she thinks it was Avon's call now, but Avon had no idea it was STringer from the outside.

Very Flirtatious, but Doubts What Love Is.
Season Three was, interestingly enough, the season that hooked me, after I'd aborted my initial attempt to get into The Wire a couple years earlier (when the first four episodes didn't really stimulate me). My girlfriend at the time was watching through all five seasons, but I'd decided, like I said, a couple years earlier that I was bored The Wire, so I would intermittently or peripherally see episodes she was watching. Then it happened: something about those heaping doses of Stringer Bell and Clay Davis in that middle season convinced me to blaze through what I'd missed to catch up to her progress. Ultimately, it might be the weakest season—especially since the back-half of Season One picks up nicely to compensate to the slow-open—but it just happened to have the right combination of sheeeeiiiitt factors to lead me into the show.
Just as I typed that last post, I see the confrontation between Avon and Stringer over D.
Man I love Stringer taking the Michael Corleone legitimate enterprise approach. It's cool to see him trying to transform into a business guy with the classes and using some of the economic lingo with his crew.
