Yes, it really is—and, speaking of Matt Walsh, the first season of Upright Citizens Brigade should definitely have been on my list. I also enjoyed him in the short-lived Dog Bites Man, which moreover featured a young Zach Galifianakis (as well as A.D. Miles and Andrea Savage).
Thanks for mentioning Upright Citizens Brigade. I always have an ample amount of ass-pennies on hand to dole out for retribution. One of my favorite skits ever.
So many interesting little sketch and comedy shows have cropped up because of Comedy Central. I thought Reno 911 worked well out of the gate, but hung on a couple of seasons too long. Like Matt Walsh, Thomas Lennon has this "make me laugh" ability regardless of how small the part. Matt Walsh has a short bit in the new Ferrell/Hart comedy and is hilarious.
One I totally forgot (mainly because it goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back and no one here has likely seen it) is Fernwood 2 Night. Parody talk show starring Martin Mull and Fred Willard that grew out of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. There's a few episodes on YouTube. Always fun to watch because you see a lot of young stars playing guest characters (Robin Williams, Paul Reubens). Some of the regular guests included Kenneth Mars, Jim Varney, Dabney Coleman, and Bill Kirchenbauer in their roles as Fernwood residents. It's a bit dated now, but Mull and Willard were just fantastic as Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard, a very twisted Johnny Carson/Ed McMahon send-up.
As for Game of Thrones, I'm one of those cranky literalists and when the show started deviating from the books, it kind of turned me away from the show. So I'll admit my disappointment is more about me than about the show. I still watch. Dinklage and Headey keep bringing me back.
