Bowman recognizes that "facts" are unnecessary for truly great reporting.
The next thing you know, Bowman is going to be reporting that the Braves have called up John Connor.

Now, that would be a 'more interesting narrative'.

This almost certainly means that Sugar Ray is [insert boxing metaphor]. The other move will be interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing Gosselin optioned down and go with an 8 man pen for a while. Also possible that someone hits the DL.
What's the record for most pitchers used during a season by a MLB club? I might be wrong but I believe the Reds just broke the record recently, but we just might pull it off this year.
Bowman could really punch up the Dickensian aspect of two lone waifs making their way from Norfolk to Philly, meeting colorful and unscrupulous types, sleeping in the car, maybe there's reason to believe they're eating out of dumpsters . . . who know?
Running into that kid from The Talisman, getting pulled into Mid-World, maybe even meeting a gunslinger or two....

Kohn and Cornely have arrived in Philadelphia. They flew, but the drive from Norfolk would have provided a more interesting narrative.

Seriously, how the **** does this man have a job?

Anyone else a little surprised at Cunniff?

Well, that's when you have the absolute worst manager at the helm at bullpen management. Don't get me wrong, the starters haven't exactly helped the situation recently, but still Cunniff is getting sacraficial arm treatment like so many before have under Fredi like Gearrin, Avilan, Venters, O'Flaherty, Linebrink, Varvarro.
Poor Gearrin, his entire career was ruined in a 3 week stretch. Could have been a good situational righty, those guys generally stick awhile like Moylan, Steve Reed, etc.
I've discussed the need for a sacrificial lamb in the pen before. It shouldn't be anyone valuable. We are going to need a sacrificial lamb more than ever this season. Marimon would be a good choice.
I agree the team needs one and that someone like Marimon is ideal, but Fredi prefers to break our better bullpen options and that's the problem. But what do I know I'm still mad about Heyward, er, Venters.![]()
