Funny. He already played an inning at third and had a ball hit to him on the first pitch. So that bet won't play. You're welcome to bet again though.![]()
I'd love to see the Braves add by taking on money as opposed to trading any legitimate talent.
The FO has a lot of flexibility in that department.
Have anyone in particular in mind?
I think a lot of credit needs to go Seitzer's way. Hitting coaches do work, and shame on the front office for not making a change much sooner.
Aside from Heyward/Upton, I'd like to see us make a run at David Price, Cespedes, and Dexter Fowler. Not sign all of those guys, but those 5 would be who I would prefer.
Hopefully Boston starts playing better we have a useful piece that we can trade them for Jackie Bradley Jr.
I'd love to get Lucroy but I doubt the Brewers trade him. He would make a big difference because he is such a great catcher, both on offense and defense.
MLBTR: "The Brewers are telling other clubs that injured catcher Jonathan Lucroy is not available via trade, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports on Twitter. It is early, of course, and that stance could presumably always change with the right offer, but Milwaukee is presumably less than thrilled with the prospect of parting with perhaps its highest-value asset. The very same thing that makes Lucroy so appealing to the rest of the league — his top-level offensive and defensive production in an up-the-middle position at a bargain rate for multiple years — also make him an obvious player to build around in either a go-for-it or reloading scenario. Assuming his club option is picked up, the 28-year-old will earn just $12.25MM from the start of this season through 2017."
Gattis wasnt going to be traded either.... or Kimbrel. Things can change.
I'm thinking Maybin could be our left fielder next season and Peterson at third base with Peraza/Smith playing 2B/CF. Re-sign Kelly to play all over the field and look for an offensive catcher to split time with CB.
C: CB/FA Catcher (Maybe trade for Lucroy)
1B: Freeman
2B: Peraza
3B: Peterson
SS: Simmons
LF: Maybin
RF: Markakis
CF: Smith
I think just wet myself.
Love the way this team is being built right now.

The defensive metrics guys would get an interesting test case if that was our line up.
Could you get better up the middle defense than CB, Simmons, Peraza, and Smith? Smith would be the "bad" defender in that group. Maybin would be plus in LF. Marakis is Markakis. Peterson would be above avg. FF is FF.
Overall that would be a really good defensive team, correct?
how is the c we got from the rockies doing? IIRC DOB was saying the braves really like him as an offensive catcher.
I'm a no on all FA this year. I have questions on all of them. And in general FA signings on that level are always too much and too long.
Even Markakis is doing well now, but we won't like him in 2018.
Buyers or sellers?

I'm still selling unless they get to 10 games over 500. No need to accelerate the plan. That can get you in trouble.
I'd rather lock up Shelby/Peterson//Peraza of they have a good season.
