2015 June Draft Results Thread

Almost have to assume the few picks after Allard were made in order to save enough money to convince him to skip going to UCLA. Maybe they figured they could get one stud in this draft, and have planned their early strategy around securing that one guy.

Now they are taking guys that will be ready to fill in the BP by 2017. One way to afford a FA like JUp is to have a completely homegrown pitching staff, from your Ace to your closer to the 7th guy in the pen.

Based on the returns for all the trades this offseason and the strategy in this draft, I would be surprised if the Braves ever sign another pitcher long term...ever. It looks like they plan to grow them, break them within 4-5 years of hitting the MLB level, and then replace them with another homegrown arm. Might not be a horrible plan considering how fragile pitchers have proven to be.

In hindsight the deal wasn't bad. The bad deal was the insistence on a MLB ready first basemen in return for the second deal.

If only they hung on to Teix and got the comp pick and drafted Trout...oh what could have been.....

As in "if only I were 6 inches taller and had the jumpshot I had in high school"???

Been saying that a lot of late... rico says wait until round 10 because we must have something to throw at some longshots.

Donny Everett and Justin Hooper are still out there and sliding - Everett was #21 on the BA 500, Hooper was #39.

Which teams realistically would have the slot money to convince them to skip school? I would think the Braves might have a shot if a few of our early guys were under slot picks. I could see the Marlins as well since they went wayyyyyy under slot with their first rounder.

I obviously know very little if anything about these players.. but this philosophy is just baffling to me

Would you be happier if the Braves ended up with those two international players that they have been linked to?

We likely have the means to sign either of those at this point - I really haven't had time today to stay on top of everything.
