6/11/15: GDT - San Diego Padres @ Atlanta Braves

This is with the starter going 7 innings. Embarassing

But he pitched to three guys in the 8th and they all reached, so its not totally on the bullpen this time.

But those two hits were real seeing eye singles, then a terrible walk by Julio.

Some bad luck on this one, and then the usual bullpen mismangement.

I don't know what to do with Cunniff, he can pitch, but he's inconsistent, not just day to day, but batter to batter. He would probably benefit from a year in AAA, but that would mean more signings of flotsam.

Personally, since I don't really care about this team's record this season, I say let him figure it out at the major-league level. Guys like him and Masset might be useful down the line—unlike, say, Veal and Cahill, who deserved to go.

Dats racist

so if this team is more frustrating to watch then which team is more fun to watch?

Considered alot of ppl thought we'd make a deep run last year, and other stuff.

Meanwhile with a good bullpen, we're easily in 1st place in a rebuild year, so yeah it is.

And if the Mets offense was better they would be 10 games up.

So you dont think if the pen was a little better, not KC bullpen or prior Braves pens.

This is the worst pen in baseball, any decent pen and the Braves are in 1st by 2-3 games.

To bring a little perspective. A team that is rebuilding and does not plan to compete this year just split a series with a team who is going for it this year, and is at the point of making ridiculous trades to try to get the final piece. These two teams are relatively equal so far this season... both have some glaring weaknesses that need to be fixed before they are truly competitive. One has a huge payroll and a bunch of very good veteran players. The other is very young, has very few financial commitments past this year, and is positioned to make more moves of the next two years.

We can complain because our bullpen is in shambles and is costing us games, but I would much rather be where we are headed over the next two years than where they are right now. We will see what the future holds.

It's a shame this team would be a team that is in first in the division, at things are turning out, with a decent manager and decent pen. But instead both have been bad so we've thrown away too many very winnable games.

I was so disinterested with last year's team I stopped watching. I still watch every game in can this year and love every game.

I enjoy watching them as well. From an offensive stand point we've got 6 or 7 guys in the lineup that will put together good AB's (Peterson, Maybin, Freeman, Markakis, Uribe, KJ/Gomes and AJ). I enjoy watching that. Last year I think we only had 3 guys in the lineup that would actually have good AB's (Heyward, Freeman and Upton), 4 when Fredi was willing to play LaStella. You put the lineup out there we have right now and it's pretty damn solid. It's not a bad team we're putting out there. Really the only thing about this team that is bad is the pen. Unfortunately it's historically bad.
