Frank Wren's Tenure

See below.

Not made up. Just observation. Whether the org actually recommended mentoring is speculation (hence, the term 'presumably'), but they were practically inseparable. Could have been a cultural connection between them. Could have been that management figured that JJ had some success at the MLB level, and that his presence/experience could rub off the young prospect. They did both get lit up that year in AAA, which may be a just coincidence. Wasn't suggesting that there was a connection between the two getting roughed up, but if you felt the urge to read more into the comment and activate the profanity filter, then be my guest.

So what was the point of the observation? Were you making no implication at all?

What hypocrisy? Everything I have said I've backed up. I gave you a best case scenario in which my team plummets and yours sky rockets and I still only see maybe a 3 WAR positive on your part. Certainly I don't think that's going to happen. Truth be told I think the team I put together would still be better than yours. Eventually the pen will probably improve a bit as we keep adding new guys, Teheran could improve and Folty's replacement could be better. Really the only two players truly overreaching in the WAR department are Maybin and Miller. Markakis has his typical OPS, and KJ has like a negligible WAR. Not to mention Uribe is better than Johnson, imo. I didn't even bring him up.

Markakis does not have his typical stats. He has his typical stats from 06-12. 13 and 14 he showed a clear different side of things. his BABIP is over 30 points higher than career norm, walk rate is 4 percentage points higher.

Well we could have gotten Uribe regardless, so why bring him up? Dodgers were gonna get rid of him regardless and we could have easily subbed in well anyone for Stultz

It's really a stretch to think that the org said to JJ, "be his roommate for road games, try to offer some tips and be his friend." They both had poor seasons. So, what's the controversy?

I actually always thought Jair was gay.

JJ did dress extremely well, but considering how much he earned, the guy could certainly afford nice clothes. Apart from that, there wasn't much thought to what he was like off the field.

Only other gossip that can be offered is Marco Scutaro's wife was a major babe.

I'm really not sure what the point of the comment was, if you didn't intend for some kind of conclusion to be drawn.

If you're not sure, then you could've just ignored the comment and not given another thought. Now maybe you can direct your attention toward other trivial matters...

I suppose that I could start randomly flaming people for having the temerity to, yannow, post on a message board.

Just happened to be the same year that Jair Jurrjens was down on attempting to make it back, and, presumably, his "mentor."

So, what ARE you saying? Bro up and tell me what you think.

You've already done it 4x now. Since you're suddenly the new self-appointed message board patrolman, why didn't take exception that ignorant redneck, who decided to chime in for no apparent reason? Jair Jurrjens isn't even Latin.

So, what ARE you saying? Bro up and tell me what you think.

Already did and there's no further opinion behind what's already been posted. If you don't like it, aren't satisfied with or don't agree with it, tough titties.

So we're down to Markakis. You want .2 WAR there? Call it a debate?

Hey, Braves 1976: since you've been swinging on my junk now for a few months, did they put me on the Watch List over at Fangraphs because not everybody copies & pastes or is there just still massive butthurt because Jason got traded?

No, I asked you a question that you seemed disinclined to answer. I was just curious to know if you could elaborate on your idea that Julio's rough AAA campaign had anything at all to do with JJ being on the club. You can't? OK, cool. Just cop to it. Because that's what you intimated. Don't want to own it? That's your call.

Fair enough. You're no shrinking violet when it comes to calling someone out for having an opinion. Don't go clutching your pearls when someone asks you to defend one of yours.

Own what? It's because there's nothing more to say. It's purely speculative. Should I know how much contact they had through the course of an entire season and what effect it might have had? Maybe it had none, maybe it had some, maybe it took time.

You're the one who's intimating something. What is it? Hell, it would've been great if Jurrjens could've come back and contributed like he did at his best, but he didn't. Same thing happened back in 2001 with Avery but at far greater odds. Presumably, he had some things to share with the up and comers. We ran into each for a moment, exiting, and it was extremely positive and memorable encounter. (If you really insist on personal opinions of encounters with players, I can elaborate, but none have anything to do with opinion on what happened on the field. Some great stories over the years!)

Since you're so attuned to my posting history, I included everything above here and at Scout.

Direct warning: the G-Braves are playing the Buffalo Bisons in just over a week and half (deep breath) and there's going to be a thread about the series. Some people actually appreciate it. Clearly, you and Braves1976 are personally offended that somebody should actually attend games and offer direct impressions, right, wrong or indifferent (yes, the OP has already expressed that view, and he'd never previously been personally provoked by me). Since that's an apparent problem for you, him and maybe a few others, it's best not to access the thread when it appears.

Fair enough. You're no shrinking violet when it comes to calling someone out for having an opinion. Don't go clutching your pearls when someone asks you to defend one of yours.

Is that was this is really about? Since you're now stalking me, my post count pales in comparison with yours. What specially disturbs you? Seriously, there have been plenty of posts in other threads that were A LOT more controversial over the last several days. Something's bothering you. What is it?

One last thing, apparently "yeezus" still hasn't gotten the hint. He's been on my ignore list for about a year and half. Unfortunately, his replies still activates my alerts. "Kimbrel's going to get 20MM/year on his next contract!" Somebody tell him to go get laid. For the first time.

I feel like this is the first time I've seen ole Julio on the ropes here and hasn't delivered a great response. He's stumbling a bit.

Julio, he's right. They were going from bar to bar getting ****ed up, a couple of shiftless Latin black guys.

^^ Asshole.

'Cause Julio's my Latin friend and he knew I was making fun of you.

Jurrjens is Papiamentu, Afro-Caribbean. Not strictly Latin. You were making the racist intimation, I just figured I'd pull your sheet off.

Also, not a redneck. Political moderate who isn't "patriotic" enough to be a redneck, despite my pasty-white skin. They'd throw me out of an NRA meeting down at the Primitive Baptist Church once they found out I couldn't clean my gun or my white sheet properly. Way too much book learnin'.

So carry on, Knucksie. On Teheran: Here I thought the organization jacked around with his mechanics and messed him up. Now I find out it's because he was closing bars with his Afro-Caribbean mentor. So that was news to me. I'm guessing you're just making **** up and didn't like being called on it, amirite?

On Julio3000: Really, you shouldn't mess with him. He's earned the right to say whatever the hell he wants in these parts as a top three poster. You, not so much. It makes you look bad and just, well, like a dick. In fact, you are a dick. So just stop.

Wow.

I hope you're ****ed up and not just a dick.
