Around Baseball 2015 Edition

Since May 1st Jason has hit 310/347/500 - for a 133 WRC+. Only real issue is the 5.3% BB. ISO at 190 during that span.

my issue with JH is the 20+ million per year he'll want/get for 7+ years.

I think everyone would love to have JH. It's about cost and production. And we don't need to get back into the WAR and defense stuff. We have all agreed to disagree.

Miller has been better than I ever dreamed he'd be to be honest. And he's still cheap and controllable for a while. If Jenkins turns into anything, wow. Now go out and get a corner OF Hart.

It's what the market is, 25 year olds with elite D and 800+ OPS potential are going to get paid. At least if you give him 18-20+ per year, he's still only going to be 32-35 rather than giving a 30 year old that long of a contract. Even if you don't think Heyward is a 200 million dollar player, the chances of him being productive throughout his whole contract is much greater due to the age he will be when signing the deal.

And that's essentially what has been happening league wide the last couple of years. The 26-30 crowd is getting paid more than the 30+ crowd (which is different from the late 90's through 00's). And while it may techincally be an overpay for some players the chance of horrible back end of contract situations are greatly reduced. Fair trade off imo.

Heywood is really good when you pick arbitrary dates to make him look good. Nothing against you but I swear no player gets the "he is hitting _____ since ______" line as much as Heywood. Most years he didn't show up till mid June at the plate. Right now he is usually just climbing over the Melvin line.

Yeah that's why he has a career 116 WRC+. He only hits well certain times of the year.

Giancarlo Stanton suffered a fracture in hand. @Ken_Rosenthal first with news. Very rough blow for marlins/MLB #marlins

I wouldn't mind bringing Prado back, to complete the circle.
