I think they killed Medlen's arm doing it.
Medlen's arm got killed because he's 5-10.

No but you are trying to develop the guy. He should be in AAA developing (and not accumulating service time) until/if he proves he can't be a starter. You've got a number of warm bodies who could have taken that role.
Not disagreeing. In fact, just saw the guy pitch at AAA level last week, and believe that he should be there longer.
Doesn't mean he won't have another chance at it. One need look no further than our old pal, Adam Wainwright. (That's the only comparison b/tw the 2.)

Anyone have any insight as to his service time? I know he got some time in late last year with the Astros but has he been down enough this year to get us another year of team control if he stays up the rest of the year?
This is just stupid. He is very raw and needs to develop as a starter.
Chris Sale says hello.
Not sure if you meant that tongue-in-cheek or not.

These data demonstrate that there is no statistical evidence that shorter pitchers are more or less durable than taller pitchers. The statistics suggest that they are just as prone to each type of injury, they recover at the same rate and they get injured as often. Given that durability is the most often cited concern for baseball executives when drafting shorter pitchers, the evidence in this study that durability does not correlate to a pitcher’s height is highly significant. Brad Steil explained the prevailing theory as “You know, a large, strong body is more durable in general.”4 However, the data contradict that claim.

Mike Foltynewicz was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. This is just part of the plan to allow him to continue serving as starting pitcher
The right move. As long as there is a decent chance he can develop as a starter, you want to give him that chance. As things currently stand we do NOT have a surplus of starting pitchers for 2016. With injuries and all, you want to start each season with about 8 guys who are nearly major league ready starters. You stash 1 or 2 in the pen and 1 or 2 in AAA and bring them into the rotation as needed. Right now I count seven guys who could potentially start for us in 2016: Teheran, Wood, Miller, Baby Harang, Banuelos, Wisler and Folty. The others in our system have yet to prove themselves in AA.
Baby harang = Perez?
Lol, why?

Except that 2-3 of those options always end up being guys like Wandy, Stultz, and the real Harang. The Braves can easily afford to trade a couple of those arms in the offseason and replace them in the BP or AAA with veteran 5th starter types.
