Around Baseball 2015 Edition

Urias was at least as good at A+ last year, at age 17, as Giolito is this year, at age 20. And Urias then continued doing exactly what he's been doing at AA to start the year.

Urias may sit 92-93 most of the time with his fastball, but he can get it to 94-96 when he wants. And again, he's 18. He's in AA and still has projectability left in his arm. That's crazy. There's a decent chance he ends up with three plus pitches with great feel for pitching. That's extremely rare.

The fact that he can still improve his command, while doing what he's doing at the age he's doing it, is crazy. I just don't see how anyone can not have him as the #1 prospect in baseball right now and certainly not the #1 pitcher.

Your first sentence is wrong. Giolito has 11.3 k/9, 2.4 bb/9, and 0 homeruns on the year. Urias was a 11.2k/9, 3.8 bb/9, and 0.4 hr/9

Obviously Urias is a stud prospect, but the reason they have him lower is they projected a lower ceiling for him.

So it definitely seems like the Braves are going to have a definite 3 top 100 hitting prospects with a chance for 4 with Mallex. Such a shame for that bus accident because Dustin might have been ranked as well.

BP loves speedy middle infielders/center fielders.

I have read nothing on Giolito that makes me want to argue about this ranking. Sadly, the Nationals have an absolute stud waiting to come up.

All I know is, Urias is doing things that even Felix Hernandez didn't do. I understand the projection for Giolito, and that's fine, I guess. But there's no way I'm putting anybody ahead of Urias.

Peraza and Albies made the midseason BA top 50.

Peraza in at 26th (They love this kid) and Alblies checks in at 32.

Yes, the Braves have positional prospects.

I love it. With much more talent to come. It's just glorious to see this farm system.

Its an improvement. But an improvement that was bound to come after some barren years. I'd feel better with a heavier bat in the top half or not the same type of prospect sitting there together. I would feel like a good year from Davidson would have him climbing that pretty quick with his patience.

Yeah, that's the negative of the system right now is the true bats are at the lower levels. The speedy guys are toward the top levels. A free agent slugger would be a welcome addition.

I liked Dustin Peterson a lot until the injury. Just hasn't been the same since the bus wreck. Hopefully they all recover 100%. He had some helium in the weeks prior.

Rangers might be looking to shed Shin-Soo Choo's awful contract. Probably more likely in the off season, but wow he has become one of the most expensive platoon players out there.

Beachy might make his season debut on Saturday.

‏@kengurnick
Mattingly said Beachy is a candidate for Saturday start.

Huston Street hurt his groin for LAA. Maybe he is out awhile? Maybe they would want Johnson or Grilli (again)? Any good prospects in the Angels system?

I'll take Trout, they can have Grilli, Johnson, CJ, and Markakis, fair deal imo.

Greinke is such a boss, should start the ASG.

But ERA is a stupid stat, holding the other team scoreless is overrated.

I was an advocate for Greinke a couple years ago and still am. Most people grow older and the peripherals get worse, he just gets better and better. His last three years have been absolutely fantastic.
