Outstanding wrapup of the busy Braves:

Atlanta Braves: It was a furious week of trades for the Braves, who had to pull off a series of maneuvers to bring in Dominican shortstop Derian Cruz ($2 million), Dominican outfielder Christian Pache ($1.4 million) and then Venezuelan shortstop Juan Morales ($450,000) for a combined $3.85 million to avoid future signing restrictions. They picked up two slot values from the A’s, two from the Rays and one from the Dodgers, boosting their pool up to $3,687,600. As we expected before July 2, the Braves are still slightly over their pool, but just by 4.4 percent, which means they just have to pay a 100 percent overage tax of $162,400 and won’t face any future signing limits. That’s key for the Braves because they’re planning to drop a big pile of cash on international prospects in 2016.

Officially over the limit for next year:

Cubs, Dodgers, Royals, Blue Jays, Giants.

Is this from this year? Is the period 2 years toy can not go over, correct? What about the previous year?

Worried about Yankees and Red Sox throwing money at abutting that moves.

Huh? LOL. Those teams are penalized heavily for next year. There will be competitors I'm sure, but they Braves have a leg up on everyone just about.

Braves have a lot of money. Lets remmeber they renegotiated a portion of their TV deal. I think they are just waiting for the right time to open up the coffers and that right time is coming real soon.

It really sucks that the Phillies were able to get out of the penalty. I feel like they will be aggressive with next year's class as well.

No, the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, Angels, and D-Backs are also out because of what they did last year. He was just listing those that went ahead this year.

I'm not worried about the Phillies. For all we know, they made sure not to go over just so they can do something similar next year and get a guy or two. They're not penalized, but that doesn't mean they want to be penalized after 2016. We're the only team who has been consistently rumored to be ready to go all-out next year. The Nats also aren't penalized for 2016, but there haven't been rumors they're prepared to go crazy like we have been.

One thing that could change things with regards to others going all out could be the new CBA. If they put in an international draft and you don't lose picks for going over the Phils and Nats might decide to jump in the fray. Hopefully we'll have handshake deals before the new CBA and can keep the guys locked in though.

Good, that is what I thought, wanted to check. Now I guess we will have to wait to see how crazy is crazy. If they are going crazy like my ex-girlfriend, then we will get every player ranked in the Top 20.

I don't think that will be decided until December 2016. So come next July, we won't know yet if there will be an international draft or not.

Ah, for some reason I was thinking it would be decided this December, good to know. That will definitely work in our favor.
