Uribe and KJ to NYM

Scouting reports: Gant 90-95 heat, plus changeup, solid breaking ball. Whalen 92-93 mph, working on break ball. Strike thrower #Mets #Braves

So the scouting report from last year says Gant tops out in the 87-90 range but here Sherman is saying 90-95... seems like quite a bit of difference.

Yea, plus KJ and Uribe are two fan favorites I didn't want to see playing for a division rival either. I still would want to bring back both for next year but I doubt Uribe returns now.

I know we disliked Uribe as a Dodger but he quickly won me over here with his bat, glove, humor, and rep in the clubhouse.

We've also stripped what little offense we had. We're now going to have to endure CJ at 3rd for the rest of the year unless we can find a sucker to take him off our hands.

No, I wasn't expecting a great player but I would have preferred something that resembles Major League talent. Maybe Whalen looks better in real life than on paper.

It seems the Gant kid has better stuff, but either way hopefully one of them works out for us. Probably won't know for a while either way.

Good point, I was going by what Sherman said. But as you say 87-90 mph and 90-95 mph is a BIG difference.

Yea, enduring CJ at third is disappointing enough. Maybe we can find a bad contract deal for something. I doubt it but that is probably best case now unless we just pay him to go away.

Works for me, worse we are the better, top 10 pick hopefully.

Looking at his minor league stat line, I'm kinda optimistic about Gant... dude has pitched well at every stop until struggling this year since being promoted to AA in only 11 starts. Looks like he was sent back to A+ and then brought back up. Wonder what the line is like since he's been back at AA. Looks like the main problem has been his command. Interested to see how he does with a little more instruction and experience.

Well, he is also another Gant too and from Georgia (Ron Gant is from Texas I know). Hopefully this Gant works out for us as well.

Not a fan of strengthening a division rival for a minimal return at best. No problem with trading Uribe or KJ, definitely the correct decision to move guys like that at this point. However, to package them together to a division opponent, I'd expect a better return.

From the Mets, any of Rosario, Molina, Nimmo, Smith or Cecchini should have been the headliner. If you couldn't get them, make the mets include Meisner, Fulmer, Becerra or Morris.

Let's hope Whalen and Gant come better than advertised. And hope we get better returns for AJ or JJ

If we get anything of value for AJ I'll be surprised, he is too bad defensively to get hardly anything IMO. Now JJ should bring something decent back, but I wouldn't expect a lot there either.

Good luck with getting any of that for an average starter who's about to be a FA and a bench player who's also about to be a FA

We traded the wrong damn Johnson. >:(

Don't get attached to Maybin. Or anyone.
