2016 Draft Position

This is where the Front Office has to be honest and thoughtful IMO.

IF we are thinking of landing a big FA, then we have to look hard at getting that protected pick. We are close. We have guys we can sell. We have young arms we can hide if we need to.

Plus we have Fredi.

Give them time. The best suckage is yet to come.

I feel like the team is going to be better moving forward enough to be around 500. Of course they could sell off Uribe/JJ/AJ and then that changes things.

In somewhat related new, I believe the competive balance picks are announced tmrw and the St. Louis Cardinals again are in the lottery for the top pick in that rnd... The team with the 7th highest payroll, I think, is getting a pick over us.......

Just to be clear, no chance we get one?

One thing to keep in mind, the Braves are looking to go all out in the international market. While it would be great to get a high upside player in the draft such as an Alex Speas or Seth Beer, they are looking at signing Kevin Maitan among others. Maitan is apparently akin to getting not only another first round guy but a top 5 guy in the draft. All indications state that the Braves will go heavily after most of the top international guys on the market next year. So, if they do not get a protected pick, they can justify it reasonably. Unlike when the Braves gave up their first round pick for Ervin Santana last year.

10th right now, move to 9th if SD/Arz hold on.
Never like tanking, but IF the Braves hold on to the top 10, the international splash and the maturation of a few of the farmhands and we're talking juggernaut people. That being said...What's happening to Shelby happened to Julio last year. It's criminal how offensive we are. Pun intended.

I dont like losing either, i just hope to see Julio put it together to end the year, and see good things from Shelby, Wisler, Manny, and some of the young bullpen pitchers (McKirhan, Viz, etc do well)

If it comes with losing, so be it, but it is best for the team as much as it sucks to say.

Definitely in that boat Heyward. Good post.

A 2-7 road trip with the great start from Miller tonight, another good one from Julio to back up his last one, a healthy return from Freddie, and moving anything we have left for payroll savings and good/decent/fringe prospects would be a blessing at this point.

i was not in on tanking...don't think it works in baseball

but we are here and we should make the trades necessary to stay here.

Tanking doesnt work except in the NBA but JJ, AJ should be dealt.

Maybin for the right offer.

Higher pick gives them the chance someone good slips to them if the pick is top 10, never know with some teams.

Bal/Phi is the next two.

Bal has a good offense so that could be tricky.

Philly depends if they have Hamels or not, he'd be scheduled to pitch in that series if he's still there.

Is there anyone in this draft that is a can't miss guy like Harper, Strausburg... or is it a mess of prospects?
