.@ChrisCotillo reports that neither Cueto or John Lamb (part of rumored return) have been informed of a deal at this point.

Saw a #Reds player this morning.
“What about the debacle last night?” “Yeah, never seen Cueto so mad.” “And rightfully so.

Dayton Moore to Ryan Lefebvre on #Royals pregame on Johnny Cueto trade - "Not a lot of truth to it at this point."

Good grief. What is going on?

Somebody is leaking a trade before the teams have done their due diligence. The teams are not ready to announce anything and are maintaining plausible deniability until/if they are ready to announce something.

I always wonder if the anonymous leakers are ever discovered, and what happens to them when they are.... or if the leaks are intentional and strategic.

Reds trade Cueto to Royals for LHPs Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb and Cody Reed.

Better return than I thought Reds would get. Reds also sending $. Big wild card is whether Finnegan can be a successful SP.

#Dodgers view Yovani Gallardo of #Rangers as a backup plan if they do not land Cole Hamels or David Price, source says. @FOXSports

(Of course, it remains possible that #Dodgers will acquire two starting pitchers.)

KJ or Uribe would have been good there, but yeah.

Gomes?

#Royals showing interest in #Marlins infielder Martin Prado, sources say. Miami would need to include cash to facilitate deal.

He'd be a good fit there. Prado has fallen off, but he'd be a great utility guy on a good team. Provides a lot of flexibility.

I dont want any part of their trash prospects. I dont know if its their development system but the have constantly been churning out busts for the last 20 years. Gordon is good but it took him about 5 years in the majors to get there. Butler was a massive dissapointment and average offensive 1B/DH for the majority of his time in KC. Their only 2 decent SP they developed were Greinke and Ventura. Escobar and Cain, 2 of their best players came from the Greinke trade and not from their farm. Moosetacos and Hosmer suddenly clicked late last year but it was after several years of floundering. Salvador Perez is a nice success story for their farm but he currently sports a .271 OBP. I have made no secret that I like Jarrod Dyson and Colon but they are role players. They have done a good job developing relievers though. Anything else from KC we might as well give our players away.

You seriously just named about half their roster of home grown talent in the same post that you mocked their system.

Ok your not getting it. Lets try this. Let me list the players each team produced via draft or international signing from 2007 till now. I pick 2007 because thats the year Gordon/Butler came up, the Royals would look a lot worse if I went further back than that.

Royals
-----------------
Alex Gordon - Top 10 pick
Billy Butler - Top 10 pick
Salvador Perez-
Eric Hosmer - Top 10 pick
Moosetacos - Top 10 pick
Wil Myers -
Yordano Ventura -
Greg Holland
Kelvin Herrera
Will Smith
Christian Colon - Hard to call a top 10 pick becoming a utility player a win
Jarrod Dyson - Good 4th outfielder.....

Braves
-----------------
Jason Heywood
Freddie Freeman
Andrelton Simmons
Yunel Escobar
Gregor Blanco
Martin Prado
Evan Gattis
Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Julio Teheran
Craig Kimbrel
Jonny Venters
Tommy Hanson - Had a lot more success than Ventura has
Kris Medlen - Unlike Royals prospects he actually had some success as a starter in the majors before his arm fell off.
Charlie Morton -
Alex Wood
Brandon Beachy -
Mike Minor - Still has had a better career so far than any Royal drafted/int signed pitcher since Greinke.
Elvis Andrus -
Neftali Feliz -
Williams Perez -
Jeff Locke -

Now you see that list of good players the Royals drafted/signed, they were supposed to have the greatest farm system ever in 2011. The Braves find a guy like Jorge Campillo who has more ML success than just about all Royals SP prospects than Ventura.

Would make a good utility guy for a bad team. Why would a good team want him?

Why wouldn't they? Prado can play a few positions and how many bench hitters can be a 2-3 win type player?

Prado is hitting about how he normally hits outside of his HR/FB ratio, which could be related to the park he's playing in. How many good teams have a .280/.325/.415 with good defense player on the bench?

sources: padres sought ss trea turner back in package for kimbrel. close to nil nats return TT tho.

I think our return for Jim Johnson won't be all we hoped considering there are numerous elite closers being shopped. Kimbrel, Clippard, Paps, Chapman, etc... not to mention the next tier either. He is likely viewed as a set up guy by other teams.
