Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

If I was to grade the Braves at the trade deadline I would give them an F. AJ, Gomes, Maybin, Teheran, even Markakis. there is no reason for any of them to still be here, not to mention Chris Johnson.

Markakis was never going anywhere. Now is not the right time to sell on Teheran. Maybin still fills a hole for us next year and can be moved in the offseason if necessary.

AJ and Gomes, who really cares.

Exactly. Aj and Gomes, who cares. They should have been dealt for whatever possible. If it's not an ideal return, so be it; get another piece in the system that may be an asset down the road. They provide no value to this team other than a trade piece, and we failed to take advantage of that.

Definite grade of F for this front office. You sell low on Wood, give away Peraza, don't shed Johnson's contract, and keep AJ and Gomes.

Preller is in Minaya/Amaro territory now.

Minaya works for San Diego, so looks like Preller is learning from him.

This. He traded Fried, Peterson, Peterson and Mallex. His reward: a losing record and one draft pick.

However, it's not unprecedented. I seem to remember a team trading Matt Harrison, Salty, Elvis and Neftali for......Casey Kotchman

One rival exec calls RHP Michael Fulmer, going from #Mets to #Tigers, an “unbelievable get for a rental” (Cespedes).

To shed Chris Johnson and his rediculous contract someone has to first want Chris Johnson. Second there is nothing in the world wrong with holding on to Maybin. At best he is our starting left fielder next year, at worse he is in center. Also nothing wrong with AJ being brought back either as the back up. That whole he is an a-hole thing is overblown. He is a competitor plain and simple. Nothing wrong with that.
