2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Not trolling here and agree the participants are pretty much limited to the questions asked but isn't abortion, immigration, radical Islam and god pretty much all they ever talk about ?

Bernie Sanders

The Republican debate is over. Not one word about income and wealth inequality, climate change, Citizens United or student debt. That's why the Republicans are so out of touch with the American people. What I heard was more tax breaks for the rich, more people losing health insurance and more talk about war. This is not what we need.

no doubt

FWIW, maybe it's Bernie Sanders who is out of touch with the American people. Looking at the latest Gallup polls, most Americans just don't see income inequality or the environment among the most important issues facing this country, much less CU.

That said, there was still plenty of time wasted last night.

Anyone who doesn't think income inequality is one of if not the most important issue in this country is an idiot. They probably think securing the border and building a fence is important.

I think people wanting a stable job, cheap gas, cheap Health insurance and feeling safe in thier own home is a bigger issue than being jealous of people who make more money.

Latest Gallup poll asking "what is most important issues facing America today"

Illegal immigration 7%
Gap between rich/poor 3%

Jeb makes too many mistakes.

Unforced errors

He has his father's curse of mangling the thesaurus. Decent guy who wants to do the right thing but has a hard time explaining himself coherently. I still think he ends up being the Republican candidate, but he's clearly the only "old" paradigm candidate on the dais for the Republicans.

It's just really unfortunate that the people who make big coin are making it difficult for the people who want a stable job and health insurance.

Yeah. Never the other persons fault is it? All people are A+ workers, who work thier ass off I guess . Instead of people bitching about why so and so makes so much more, they could do something about it to improve thier life. Not everyone is destined for success.

I think the bigger is problem is nobody understands WHY there's income inequality.

You're right. Not everyone is destined for success. But maybe if guys like the Koch brothers gave two sh*ts about anything other than their own bottom line we wouldn't be in half the mess we're in.

This isn't about envy. That's the frickin' cheap excuse that people pull out. It's about creating a society that recognizes the value of everyone and gives them a chance at success. If you actually believe that's the country we have, you must live in a gated community, both physically and mentally.

If you have value you will make the money. No one is going to stop you in doing it. Some people are good at it, some are not. Just like our race, some rather sling with bling and hurt people because they want that and some are successful at it then there are those who are too lazy to work knowing the guvment will take care of you. Actually both whites and blacks exploit it. It depends on the individual and I feel Liberals need to cater to them to get the votes and stay in power while the Republicans respect the individual and tell them to "man" up if you want to succeed.

Success is gain through hard work, not whining about the circumstances that you yourself control, not the business, not the CEO, not the work environment, YOU and YOU only.

Heck, why is that I get every company in Minneapolis wanting me to work for them, because I have skills, through school, through experience. EVERY American can gain these skills if the WORK at it. Some just don't want to put the effort. So diss the Koch brothers or any billionaires about not giving a schit about us is wrong. They are looking for people like me, like you, like anyone who is willing to get a piece of that pie. I don't blame them for eschewing the poor who don't WANT TO WORK, lazy or don't GIVE A SCHIT about life, just us paying for them.

There are a ton of people that have value that don't make much money. I believe you personally work very hard and are quite accomplished, but there are a lot of people who work very hard and would be accomplished if one or two things would have went their way but didn't. That's not whining, that's sometimes bemoaning the luck of the draw or lack thereof. It doesn't do any good and when it does boil over into simple class envy, that's problematic and doesn't solve anything. But that is something entirely different than trying in this society to provide some kind of comparable baseline starting point. Just because the rich can send their kids off to posh pre-school programs that require entrance examinations doesn't mean we shouldn't try to do something on a more limited scale to make certain every kid goes into kindergarten ready to learn.

I've always said that anyone who says "you make your own luck" probably didn't.

To a certain extent that is true. But being black, I have to work harder than my counterparts, each position I took I was the only black and in each case when they do peer reviews, guess who was last, me. But you know why I kept my job, metrics. When you win worker or the month 10 out of 12 months of the year and still get a "1" rating from your peers management just ignore them and when someone is let go they don't know why I wasn't the one to go. Management asked why I work harder than others and just simply say, I am black and the first to be cut is our race. They weren't happy with that answer but they know it was the truth but they knew if they tried to let me go, the metrics and winning the awards (which they have no input on, it is based on metrics and surveys) I will always have my job.

So when you say people have value, they do, if they work at it like me. I give up six figure jobs in Minneapolis on a daily basis because I am looking for a specific job in a specific location. People who are willing to work at will make it in our country and I am proof of it even when the deck is stacked against me.

I just want to make it clear, I know you have worked very hard and have overcome obstacles that most of us don't face. And I applaud you for that. You're one of the few posters in here that have likely faced the race barrier and your work ethic has clearly helped you hurdle that.
