GOP debate

This recap:

"In a debate where chastened moderators avoided interruptions or follow-ups, the candidates were free to inhabit any alternate reality of their choosing, unperturbed by inconvenient facts. Presumably, the general election will intrude, and the nominee will be forced to make a stronger case against what looks, at the moment, like peace and prosperity."

I'm shocked you have this opinion... or that you're stealing it...

But tonight's debate was by far, the most substantive debate yet.

Marco Rubio.
More carpenters.
Fewer Jesuses.

or

"The candidates who found themselves trapped were those who attempted to connect Republican dogma to concrete economic conditions. Fiorina wound up her concluding remarks by stating ominously, “Imagine a Clinton presidency,” before unspooling a litany of horrors. But of course we don’t have to imagine. We had a Clinton presidency. And, as Baker pointed out to Fiorina at the outset of the debate, the economy thrived.

GOP Debate is hilarious.

Rubio and Rand going on it.

Cruzbot, Rubiobot, and Fioribot are continuing to be boring.

Jeb is Jeb which is non interesting.

Trump vs. Kasich continues.

Carson continues awkwardness.

Kasich still looks like the only sane, most pragmatic, and most logical on that stage.

And all is better than a compulsive liar and a communist wannabe.

was Rubio's father a "modest" barkeeper?

Remind me, is Trump leading in polls ?

Substantive debate 101:

“Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital,” Abraham Lincoln told the Congress in 1861. “Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.”

that just isn't true

moderates and independents on the other hand...

Kasich is this cycle's favorite candidate of the liberals even though they would never actually vote for him in the general.

Kasich is the only guy I would consider voting for they say while whacking it to pictures of Hillary's wig.

Reminds me of Hilary's line from her debate "And we'll be able to pay for it because we'll make the wealthy pay for it!!!!!"

I am waiting for a candidate to stand out and get me excited to get out and vote. That has yet to happen, but I feel very comfortable with Rubio. He seems like the best bet from either party to do a good job, even if he has some issues.

As a Conservative who has voted for the Democrats the past two elections and of the minority in my party that thinks Obama has done pretty well, I find Hilary to be an awful candidate. The 2008 version of her would have been fine, but she's moved so much farther to the left than William Clinton would have ever dreamed of, which makes the appeal to 90's nostalgia with her campaign silly. As for the others, Bernie does a good job appealing to the idealist in me, but the pragmatist side can't stop laughing at him.

Frank Rich:

Though the debate was about economic matters, Rubio was never asked about his own inability to manage his personal finances. He was also never asked to take a stand in the spirited Bush-Kasich vs. Trump-Cruz debate on immigration — perhaps the No. 1 issue to the party’s base, and the issue on which he has famously flip-flopped. As for the equally slick Cruz, he also showed an Achilles heel. After declaring that he would kill the five most egregious federal agencies, he could only name four — and so named the Department of Commerce twice. He was also given a pass by the moderators, who didn’t call him on it. (Somewhere Rick Perry is sobbing.)

Do you ever have an original thought.

You have become such a loser.

oh yeah, sure do. Just last night listening to the debate on the radio I found myself befuddled by the hosts pronouncing their sponsored debate, " substantive". Then heard Rubio talk about welders . Well, I have been fortunate to witness Marco's rise up the political ladder. For the umpteenth time got to hear him talk about " modest bartender" that escaped Castros Cuba in 1957. Missing the point that it wasn't :Castro s Cuba until 1961.

I digress, WTF does Marco Rubio know about, welders ?

Let alone, philosophy

Drinking game for next (R) debate... philosophy

You can tell who the Republican favorite is based upon the direction your hate laser is pointing.

Flavor of the day rather than favorite. Or, who gets a free pass this week. Like I said, I've seen Jeb and Rubio up close. And see them both as empty suits
You wanna laugh chop ? I actually think Trump is a) the most electable and b) would not make a bad President. He seems to have the sense of knowing what he knows and know what he doesn"t know. Yes, I think his success as a businessman would help him should he get elected. He knows how to administer "huge" bureaucracies and obviously hire smart people evidenced by his campaign hires

Having said that, please also consider his (R) opposition and the ridiculous things he is saying.

To this point he has run an impressive campaign
I think he makes up with Telemundo

I wouldn't be surprised if Rubio ends up being the R nominee. Has a couple of things going for him on that side of the fence.

I would eat dog**** before I vote for Rubio.

Here's the chef.

Does Rubot not scare people with how inauthentic his monologues come across? They're not as scary as Cruz who sounds and looks like your worst nightmare.

Honestly, as long as someone isn't a cyborg, I don't really care all that much about that aspect. I appreciate that Obama was a fantastic public speaker and he was incredible an incredible salesman with policy. But that's far down my list.
