Next Move?

There went 90 seconds of my life I'll never get back!!!

To be fair, if you're going to dream about being made GM magically, you should be able to take some liberties with the other factors that impact front office decisions in baseball. Namely that any trades you desire will somehow be accepted by other teams.

I ****ing lost it at:

Perez is an extra outfielder thrown in to sweeten the deal

Zimmerman to the Tigers. This could potentially help us out. Hopefully other prospect barren teams sign at least one of Price or Greinke. The Cards, Dodgers, Yankees, Giatns, Diamondbacks, and Cubs all want a Sp.

Rosenthal says the Braves are interested in Zobrist, in part to "serve as a model for younger players." You know, intellectually, how good a player he is, but that's something you really appreciate all the more when you see him every day. Dude is just a solid all-around contributor.

I don't know how much sense he makes for us- I assume he's a second baseman, which leaves Peterson in limbo, and I don't think we should be all that interested in going to four years for Zobrist.

Looks like whoever goes 4 years and at whatever type of money is gonna get him.

I love Zobrist but he's 35 and we wont be contending until maybe 2018 depending what moves make this offseason.

I think a guy like Span for 3 years would be a good move.

Wont cost a pick, was really good 2 years ago, typical leadoff guy, really good defensively.

Sounds like whoever offers 4 years will get him.

I agree he doesn't really fit the "plan" but then, I guess it depends on what else we add this winter. If we sign Leake or Shark and trade Teheran for Soler (or a similar trade for a high upside bat) then perhaps the Johns weren't lying.

I dont get the infuasion with Shark, he wasnt very good last year.

And would cost a pick i think.

I'd love to get Leake though, although lot of people think he stays with SF.

I agree on the rest, but i'd want more than just Soler if we traded away Julio, i'd rather deal Miller than Julio who pitched really well down the stretch last year.

Frankly no free agent makes "sense" for us right now... unless we signed one of the young guys like Heyward - which obviously isn't gonna happen

This move would lock us into keeping some pretty old guys for a number of positions. RF(Markakis),LF(Olivera),3b(Zobirst) would all be occupied by players over 30 for at least the next 3 years.

Curious to see where Span goes and what his contract looks like. He's a pretty good baseball player.

Just throwing out names really. Shark is a good pitcher, but you'really right that the draft pick loss does scare us off a bit unless he waits too long ro sign and his market drops. Kazmir or Gallardo would be good options as well for the right price.

I dont see us getting him, would guess the Mets get him, they've been linked to Zobrist all winter.

#Braves’ interest in Zobrist apparently stems from desire for him to serve as model for younger players as they enter new ballpark in ’17.

“…in the short- and long-term. Ben Zobrist brings so much to the table on and off the field that he could help all 30 teams.”

Zobrist is a good player, but not someone that is going to push us over the top. Besides, if I was him, knowing this could be my last MLB contract, i'm going to a place that gives me the combo of the most years/money/chance to win a WS

I mean yes,but what else can we use that money on?

He should probably go to the Mets though if i was him with that pitching.

Also he just won a WS so i dont think thats as important anymore.

He just won a WS this year, so I'm not so sure winning a WS is as critical anymore. I would guess money/years would be the most important thing to him at this point. And possibly proximity to his home in Nashville, which would give the Braves an advantage there over most of the teams interested in him.
