We really need to trade him. He's good on a close team but for us he really impedes our ability to improve the OF with a young controllable bat. Not sure what the "right return" is. I'd trade him for a middling relief arm and salary relief mainly to open up RF.

Completely agree. The fact that we can't target corner OF's as building blocks offensively is bad. And being blocked by guys like Olivera and Markakis is really bad.

There's nothing that says this is true. In fact, we clearly are targeting at least one corner OF specifically, so I don't know why fans think this is the case.

Actually there were reports of us backing off Soler only because of LF and RF locked up with Olivera and Markakis.

It is crazy to latch on to anything reported in the media as having any meaning at all. So much posturing and trying to embarrass potential trade partners into giving in and taking a lesser return.

That's all that is going on here.
