Fiorina: I Will Not Be Bullied Into Telling Truth
By Andy Borowitz

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Calling criticism of her misrepresentations about Planned Parenthood “typical left-wing tactics,” the Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said, on Sunday, “I will not be bullied into telling the truth.”

Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” the former Hewlett-Packard C.E.O. denied that spreading misinformation about Planned Parenthood was “in any way incendiary,” but added, “What is truly incendiary is demanding that someone who is seeking the highest office in the land stop lying.”

Fiorina noted that many of her rivals for the Republican nomination—including Donald Trump, Ben Carson, and Ted Cruz—had successfully used lying as a key element of their campaign strategies. “All I am trying to do is level the playing field,” she said.

Additionally, she argued that she had not singled out Planned Parenthood as the subject of falsehoods during her campaign. “Look at the things I have said about my tenure at Hewlett-Packard,” she said. “I have steadfastly avoided facts from day one.”

Striking a defiant note, she said that she refused to allow a “tiny cabal of left-wing truth-fetishists” break her resolve. “Anyone who thinks I’m going to start suddenly telling the truth doesn’t know what Carly Fiorina is made of,” she said.

I think it would be good of you to at least make it clear that this is satire...

But a good portion of me actually thinks you believe these are actual quotes

If it was spelled out, clear, it was satire it would no longer be, satire

You must have been ill the day irony was taught

Going forward do "we" have to tell you when "we" are being ironic ?
too

What about sarcasm --- that too ?

Fred Koch, founder of Koch Industries, was one of the founding members of the John Birch Society.

His sons Charles and David now run Koch industries and finance the Tea Party.

Their narrative of hate has not changed in 50 years.

Well, you didn't link to the article... so came across to me as if you were painting this as a legitimate story

Isn't one of the pillars of liberalism is that everyone should be able to overcome the circumstances they are born in? (e.g. wage inequality, financial aid for college students, welfare, etc.)

Yet, you pin this silly factoid against the Koch brothers because their father belonged to a social club 60 years ago. What message are you trying to send here?

I don't know how old you are, but calling the John Birch Society a "social club" isn't a very good definition of what they were.

One of my former professors worked for the SPLC and infiltrated the contemporary John Birch Society (as well as the Aryan Brotherhood) ... colorful guy, with some utterly amazing tales to tell.

From my understanding the earliest iterations of the JBS were primarily focused on an anti-communist doctrine which would make McCarthy blush. That somehow metastasized into racial hate, which also ironically happened to coincide with the (slow) decay of the group.

If memory serves they were also VERY anti-foreign wars, Vietnam being the prime example way back in my youth. They also hate the UN and want us out of that organization and the crowning jewel is that they were mentioned in a classic Charlie Daniels song from my freshman year in high school, 1973, Uneasy Rider.

Truth be told, I have no utter clue what the John Birch Society is, but it wouldn't change my point if it was worse than the cult from True Detective season one. I just don't see the point of holding someone's father's ideology against someone.

Couldn't agree more!! It'd be like insisting Obama was a Kenyan Muslim just because his father was. Just crazy stuff!!!

your point would be valid if Obama politics mirrored his fathers. I've been posting Koch Bros stances for 5 years only to have them dismissed as ... Now I learn people really don't understand the views of Kochs let alone the history of their empire and involvement with John Birch. Or the place John Birch Society holds I n post WWII US.

Besides, Obama did not grow up on his father's house and had virtually no contact. Your comparison really doesn't fit

Who are you addressing?

So many people don't vote. After all the 18 months of debates and attack ads, you still gotta get 'em to the polls.

And I think Trump is energizing those less policy-driven and exasperated by what they see as the system being dominated by special interests of the left and right. Our voter participation rates are embarrassing. Lowest in the West by far. If one can hit the Silent Majority (or whatever they want to be called) and motivate them to vote, you usually win. The difficulty comes when you try to translate electoral success into governance. I think we saw some of this with Obama's election. Everyone seems to want change until they get it.

Yup. That's has been and always will be insane for people to get worked up on.

If we are going down this route then why not sentence the children when a parent gets convicted of a crime?
