Shelby to AZ for E. Inciarte, A. Blair, and Dansby Swanson

I dunno, did you see what that Shelby Miller guy was able to fetch?

The funny thing is, the reported discussions with Arizona on Fernandez were apparently revolving around our package plus Corbin and Drury...which is really good, but not even in the same universe as a package that includes Urias, Seager, Pederson, and more. That would be the worst deal in major league history, and I'm not kidding.

I spent most of the evening putting together a TV stand with my sister. This trade made that entire experience slightly more bearable. Would have been much, much worse if I had hated the trade.

New strategy moving forward: only trade with Arizona. Ever.

Thats three Swansons and 2-3 more prospects, thats stupid.

Supposedly Arz had Corbin, Blair, Drury, Enciearte, Swanson and someone else on the table for Fernandez.

Very excited to see Albies and Swanson most likely play together and rise together next year. Albies is strong defensively at SS but hope we keep Swanson at SS and move Albies to 2B. That's a sexy future DP combo

Did I miss an announcement that Arizona became part of our farm system? I'm floored we got Swanson. How often does the #1 pick of the draft get traded before they sniff the Majors, let alone with a year or two of being drafted? I've watched the College World Series the past couple years (UVA grad here) and Swanson stood out to me, perhaps because the announcers constantly hyped him, even when he had a disappointing series this past year (thank you very much). Here's a highlight reel for him:

Albies has the stronger arm grade (60 to 55), and a faster speed grade (70 to 60). Swanson has the edge in fielding grade (55 to 50).

If I had to guess I would say Albies stays at SS.

For #Dodgers to land Jose Fernandez from #Marlins hearing it would take Urias, Seager, Pederson and two more. #WinterMeetings

Friedman always does this. Asks for something ridiculous, then if you eventually reach accord it's higher than you want. You look back and realize you got bamboozled.

Dansby is closer to the show, so he should get the first chance to stick at short. I would just see how it works out from there. If Dansby is proving to be a solid SS when Albies comes up, you move Albies.

Ok relax, he couldn't even hold Andrelton's jockstrap defensively.

where did I say anything like that.. he made some Simba plays.. that is more of a compliment to simba.. plus no one can hold simba's jock.. they don't call him Andacondrelton simmons for nothing..

I'm skeptical of that arm grade on Albies, though. Based on that clip of Swanson, I would say Swanson definitely has the stronger arm. I've always been slightly concerned about Albies not fully maximizing his value at SS because of his arm. I think he can play SS with it, but I think he's a better fit for 2B.

So a future possible IF of Freeman, Albies, Swanson, and Riley??? Wow. I really like Inciarte as well. Will be a great leadoff hitter.

I'm still stunned.
