Can't wait to see what Obama conspiracy those right wing websites have for this.

Obama gets to name his successor this is going to be a war.
 
From many accounts he really wasn't the terrible person that many who disagreed with him politically made him out to be. I've read some pretty hateful words from folks commenting on his death, which is ashame but not surprising.
 
Anyone with common sense should see the political **** storm coming. Repubs will stall Obama and Democrats will whine like they wouldn't do the exact same thing.

Yeah, the timing of this will have conspiracy theorists going nuts.
 
The political ramifications of this are huge.

An Obama nominee would likely tilt the court 5-4.

I'm not familiar with Supreme Court procedure maybe [MENTION=135]striker42[/MENTION] could help me out here, with a new majority could the possible 5 libs re-open citizens united or can only Chief Justice Roberts bring that up similar to a House Speaker and Senate Leader bringing up votes or bills.

It wouldn't be a war at all. He wouldn't be confirmed. Obama is going to have to nominate someone like Kennedy if he has any hope of getting him confirmed.

They can't re-open a decision. A case would have to come up through the courts overturning Citizens United would have to come up through the courts and the Supreme Court would have to agree to take the appeal from a lower court.

So how would a case get there as in, once the court rules on it, it can't be brought up again right? People have continued to sue Obamacare and the mandate was held so I assume since they ruled on the mandate that it can no longer be tried and that they have to try and sue other parts of the law?
