GDT: March 7, Atlanta Braves at Toronto Blue Jays, 1:10

Mallex's removal was for a "teaching moment" and not injury related. He'll play tomorrow. Wonder what he did?

#Braves Fredi G took Mallex Smith out after he tried a slash-bunt maneuver (and soft-lined out). "Teaching moment," Fredi called it.

Apparently Fredi told Mallex not to do it and Mallex did it anyway. It's being stressed that this is not a big deal. Mallex is well liked and was mature about the reprimand.

If he was told not to do it and did it, then I totally get it. At first I thought Fredi just didn't like it, but if that's part of Mallex's game, why take it away? But if he was told not to try it, then ok.

I don't think they were taking it away. I think they just want him working on other things. Might be they want him working on pitch recognition and working the count or trying to barrel the ball up or something. Mallex seems to be a kid who only knows how to play the game one way, to win. That's a great thing to have but winning isn't the point of ST. Getting into game form is.
