Viz for closer, don't trust old ass Grilli (Adam Sandler Longest Yard quote about Burt Reynolds doing the last play)

I'm going to give Grilled cheese the benefit of the doubt. He did not pitch much in spring training and is coming off an awful injury from last season. Also, there were a few close pitches in that opening walk that I believe changed the course of the inning. Then AJ dropping the ball at the plate to allow the tying run to score did not help....

Not 100% saying that Viz shouldn't be closer, but if we are in the same situation as we were on opening day, I like the way both were used. Viz getting the high leverage situation in the 8th as opposed to the 9th

Small sample, but Kelly Johnson has had some success against Strasburg. I'd like to see him in the lineup.

Agreed. I'd like to see him in today over Peterson at 2b.

Wasn't Grilli 94-95 last year? He was 92-93 Monday

Again, I think you have to chalk that up to him missing a good portion of the spring. I'm sure the velocity will come back

the push by the Braves to try to make me think Grilli is good and acting like he is Craig bothers me more than anything else about him

Until he got injured, Grilli was probably better than Kimbrel last year. Grilli had a FIP of 2.12 and an ERA of 2.94. He K'd 12 per 9 and only BBd 2.7 per 9. Going by FIP he was the 7th best RP in baseball with at least 30 IP.

The problem is that there's no guarantee we're getting that Grilli back this year. He's 39 and coming off a nasty injury. I see no reason why we need to hype him like we are. Let him ease back into things.
