Olivia Cruises

I may call just to find out.

But I did see a forum on their website where a guy asked if if gay men could come and he was told no.

We need a supreme court case on this ASAP

If the company refuses men or women, then they're violating civil liberties.

Unless it's private

Yeah this is a good point and one that I didn't see addressed yet. Did they specifically and in advance book a private trip? Surely those aren't handled or considered the same way. When I made my comments I assumed they were all just there, open for anyone/everyone and while I don't know the correct answer to this question it would seem to matter, at least to me.

Maybe The Boss will dump any concerts he may have planned for their port city or on the cruise itself.

Unless it's private

If it's a chartered event it can legally be limited to those of a certain group. I guess I am not familiar with this particular event and although I know a number of lesbians and am comfortable around them, I doubt very much that I would enjoy being on a cruise with them. Nor would they enjoy having me around.

But the left has proven they don't care about this. The baker isn't comfortable providing a cake for a gay wedding... but that doesn't matter

And that's the biggest problem with society today in my view. I don't know why a baker wouldn't bake a cake for someone, but if there's another baker in town who doesn't care who he bakes a cake for, one would think that the couple would employ the latter instead of pestering the former. And if it stopped at wedding cakes, it would be one thing, but everyone is so easily offended these days.

That said, I believe in the public arena there has to be assurance of basic rights.

I agree with you.

But I don't believe getting a cake baked for your wedding by a particular private business qualifies as a basic right

And I agree with you on the cake issue.

What if it's the only bakery in town? Or the most convenient bakery on your side of town and you don't have time to make other plans? Just imagine how inconvenient a person's life could become if refused service a couple of times a day running regular errands.

It's so sad this it's the so called "Christians" proving to be the least Christian of all.

So if a member of the KKK went in and asked for a cake that said "N****** should burn in hell" should the baker make that one too? After all, it may be inconvenient for the KKK guy to go across town.

At what point do we give a **** about the business owner?

To me, it's all going to depend on which errands. I can understand--although not agree with--a decision by someone involved with a ceremony often defined by religious rites to not provide an isolated service, like a wedding cake or wedding photography. Now, if it's shopping at a grocery store or eating in a restaurant, that's a different level for me.

Not one mention of gender specific requirements or any one being refused a reservation based on gender

Have a wonderful day

A special letter from Olivia's President, Judy Dlugacz:

Dear alex,

Why do we travel? We travel to experience new things – sights, tastes, smells, to make long-lasting friendships, to create life-long memories. And now part of traveling to Europe is an experience with new meaning – when a zest for life is the expression of entire nations, and when our experiences are enlivened by the connection we feel when we meet new friends.

In thinking about our upcoming Paris to Normandy Riverboat trip this summer, I feel especially excited for us to see the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Élysées, and to spend a week on the river meeting local communities and feasting on their cuisine, wines and cultures.

This will be a very special experience for you...Vive la France!

With love,
Judy

Looking for a good read?
Olivia recommends Olga’s Promise by Olivia shero, Olga Murray, founder of the Nepal Youth Foundation, an organization committed to end the practice of Kamlari in Nepal. She tells the story of how she transformed the lives of 50,000 impoverished children in Nepal, and she didn’t start until she was over 60 years old. Even President Carter loved it! It's a quick and easy read and an inspiration for young people contemplating their future as well as those who are considering retirement. Click here to order your copy today.

Gen O – Lez Go!
If you’re Gen Y, a millennial, or even at the tail end of Gen X, then you’re most definitely part of Gen O! The Olivia staff has cooked up some fun activities on our larger cruise and resort trips, including tequila tastings, volleyball, beer & bocce, lunches, snorkeling and so much more. Renew your passport before it expires
Did you know that this year marks the 10th anniversary of when passports became mandatory for U.S. citizens traveling between the United States and Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean? As passports are valid for ten years, the U.S. State Department foresees a surge in passport applications and renewal requests this year, taking upwards of 16 weeks to process. Given that passports must be valid for up to six months at the time of arrival to your travel destination, it is important to renew early, especially if you’re headed on one of our trips to Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, the Caribbean, Baja, California or Punta Cana.

Our Caribbean Festival at Sea entertainers will blow you away
We’ve got the most AMAZING entertainment on our Caribbean Festival at Sea next February 4-11, 2017. Edinburgh to London Adventure
We’re going to London! For those of you on our Dublin to Edinburgh Cruise, this is available for you as a vacation stretcher, and for those just seeking an adventure, you can book it as a standalone trip. From July 12-18, you’ll experience the best these two cities have to offer, from touring the Royal Yacht Britannia and Edinburgh Castle to experiencing the Inner Circle at Stonehenge and a private tour of Kensington Palace. And if you know anything about Olivia, you know that’s just a taste of what we have in store for you. For more information about this trip, click here.

Olivia + L Fest = Proud Partners
We have recently partnered with L Fest, the UK’s only lesbian festival! It falls just after our Dublin to Edinburgh Cruise, so stay a bit longer and meet a whole festival full of British lesbians. The three-day music, arts and comedy festival is held in Staffordshire (the central UK) from July 15-18th and is expecting 2,000 women in its 6th year. It attracts a wide audience with something for everyone, with European artists and DJs performing over the whole weekend. They have announced platinum-selling artists Heather Peace and Saffron from Republica who’ve sold millions of records worldwide. To find out more about the festival, click here.

My wife does not tolerate gays at all but she will do their pictures but she will tell them upfront she is not going to put time into it and they ask why and she tell them. She said it is uncomfortable to do it but they get the unedited shots. Well, about 90% want her pics because she is the best. She said no kissing or PDA in her pics and they have to sign the contract in stating so and they do. I believe in having to give anyone service regardless if they are Muslim, Gay, Trans or KKK, but don't expect me to give you my best and she is like that (I had to force her to do gay pictures, but I said you don't have to put time into it). I know a few restaurants in town that have done it to me. Reason why I don't go back to them and not cry to the media that they were being mean to me.

By the letter of the law when your wife explicitly tells them there are qualifiers based on their gender or sexual orientation (race or religion) she is liable.
