Lucas Harrell traded

I am really pleased with this deal. We get a prospect with real power who can play 2nd or 3rd. He was suspended last year for PEDs, but for a spot-starter and a reliever, it's hard to do any better.
 
Great trade, even though I probably liked Harrell more than most. Demeritte is a legitimate prospect. Any have a scouting report on him and if he can stick at 2b or 3b?

Yah every year he's gotten better with his K rate and is still only 21 though. Gallo kept swinging away. The PED suspension is a little worrisome but the price we paid was basically nothing and it's def worth the risk

Its a pretty fair deal. 2 fringe type pitchers for a 21 year old in A ball that strikes out 33% of the time. (roughly 15-20th ranked Rangers prospect) HOpefully his defense sticks at 2B and he can figure out hoe to make contact. He certainly has legitimate power.
 
When your team can turn a couple of scrap heap guys into a player with a plus, plus tool, you're doing it right. Demeritte has huge power and he also walks a good bit. His struggles to make contact are real but that mixture of power and willingness to take a walk gives him a chance.

Odds are this kid wont be an impact major leaguer but his ceiling is huge! If he can cut his Ks to a respectable level then he could be a star. Getting someone with that kind of ceiling for scrap heap guys is ridiculous. There's absolutely nothing to dislike about this trade.
 
It's a pretty great trade. The Rangers essentially gave him to us. But you have to give props to Harrell and Alvarez for playing well while they were with us.
