2016 Trade Deadline Rumors and Moves

Braves could fit the bill here by including guys like Withrow / Krol / Cervenka in a McCann deal. Doubt NYY will want a rental like JJ.

Most people do... Haven't heard one person say that they actually think we are getting Lucroy but the way you make it sound is that the whole board says its happening. People can discuss hypotheticals. I'm sure you've discussed trades that sounded dumb to quite a few people that would never happen. At least with Lucroy we know there have been discussions. Just don't understand why this one weird thing makes you so irritated.

It wasn't the whole board, but it was pretty frequent by multiple members. It never got past the discussion stage. Many moons ago, at least there was a real, confirmed standing offer for Schilling, but there wasn't much need for somebody to post over at Scout:

Maddux

Schilling

Glavine

Smoltz

Neagle

"What y'all think?"

The hypothetical lineups deserve to be ridiculed.

No, sorry, trade proposals were never my thing. Would much prefer to discuss cars, Scotch or the current state of indie rock than hack writer Twitter feeds from MLBTR.

May be if the Braves added a third team that had some interest in Markakis. A deal could look potentially like this:

Royals get Markakis

Yankees get Kennedy, Gant from Atl, and cash from KC.

Braves get Mac

The Yankees might have interest in Markakis. Beltran is in his walk year and could be dealt at the deadline.

Mac is not what the Braves need right now. Considering cost and age, I'd rather have Recker/Flowers moving forward and spend elsewhere. Love McCann, but the Braves got his best; the Yankees got the rest.

Agreed! When he was with us McCann was one of my faves, but he chose to leave for the big bucks. Now I don't blame him for that, but I do think he needs to stay in NY, where he chose to go. I sure don't want to pay him big money now, since he's nowhere near the player he was a few years back. Just my opinion though.

To me, it would depend on what we give up for Mac and how much we would pay him. If it's for half the cost, sign me up. Flowers and Mac catching this young staff would be gold.

Mac is still one of the better catchers in baseball. The only thing different between Mac 5 years ago Mac now is about 30 points in batting average. He's still a good receiver, albeit not good at throwing out base runners (though that was never his strong suit).

And in such a scenario, Mac would simply take over Markakis' salary obligation, plus a couple of million or so per year. So we aren't really adding much salary at all.

Yanks get McKinney, Gleyber, Frazier, Sheffield for Miller and Chapman. Braves get Wisler for Kimbrel. Fail. Should have eaten Upton's contract, and maximized Kimbrels value.

I think we would all rather have Frazier, Sheffield, Upton than Wisler, Riley.
