Indians show how to gut your farm system in one day

This team is not winning next year or the next with Or without Julio. Maximize his value in a thin SP market. We can no doubt get 4 or 5 long term pieces for him at this deadline. We have massive holes at C, 3B, OF long term and Julio is our only reliable rotation arm. Use Julio to fill some of those holes and add close to the bigs rotation pieces.

You dont think Coppy hasnt thought about that?

Hes not gonna trade Julio for a so so offer, if a team wants to gut their farm for Julio he'll be dealt. A decent offer isnt worth trading Julio.

Our FO and Snit deserve some blame for how they rode Viz this year - you can't prevent all injuries but there were situations he was needlessly used.

Viz right now would command a haul, damn shame we can't trade him in....

I don't want him to take a so so offer; we've done that plenty in this rebuild. If miller gets you Frazier and Sheff, and Chap gets Gleyber and McKinney, then Julio will command a haul. I honestly think Coppy refuses to trade JT due to the current rotation and Suntrust opening. Given the amount of teams looking for SP, Julio should be moved. BOS, CHC, TEX, LAD all have top tier prospects that can move this franchise forward.

Whose to say any of them are offering that kinda haul?

These same teams have also been linked to Sale, Fernandez, Gray... basically any top pitching option available, and none of these guys have been traded. It's entirely possible those particular teams simply don't want to part with the prospects it would take, even in a trade that's "fair value."

No way to know if they are. Will have to wait and see if and when SP starts to move. But I hope they haven't made JT untouchable and are open to moving him.

And all the teams you mentioned are in on higher end arms.

Julio isnt untouchable, but no way to know if a team will offer the kinda haul it will take for him.

LA isnt trading Seager, Bos isnt trading Moncada for JT and they as well as Texas have been linked to Sale. Cubs could be an offseason trade.

Hopefully the price for SP stats the same in the offseason. My personal preference is to trade JT+ to BOS for a package headlined by benintendi/devers. Obviously don't know if Boston would entertain, but would immediately fill 2 long term holes.

Coppy is a smart guy. If he isn't trading, it tells me the offers are not more valuable than having JT on the team. How upset would we all be if he traded him for a "decent" offer?

Hah, if that was on the table Julio would be a Red Sox right now. They wouldn't even offer Benintendi solo most likely. There is a reason they wound up with Pomeranz for Espinoza, and that's because they weren't willing to move Moncada or Benintendi for what was on the table at the time. One of those possibly get moved in a Sale deal, but we aren't getting them for Julio or it would have already happened I think.

Now maybe we could get something like Devers and Kopech for Julio, who knows.

With the market the way it is, I would think JT/Viz could net Benin/Devers/+. But I assume you are correct that BOS would hang tight or offer something like that for Sale. I would not move JT to Boston without benintendi coming back.

I also feel JT is worth less to a team like Boston than he is to a small/mid market team. Part of what makes JT appealing is that his contract is so good. That benefits the smaller payrolls a lot more than someone like Boston, LA, NY, etc. I feel if they trade Benintendi it's going to be based on the actual talent of the return and not necessarily the actual value of the player. So I feel your right in that he would be moved for Sale but not necessarily JT.
