Do you think people should be paid based on the value they bring the employer? Or based on how much the employer can afford to pay them?

both
To the meme, I would say there's a big difference between Stein--who appears to be wanting to build a movement--and Nader who was pretty much a mercurial Green regardless of his beliefs. I appreciate much of what Nader has done in his life, but at this point, he's just a constant complainer. Still, I think Greens should seriously consider the ultimate effect of their votes (like we all should), but as long as they believe they are voting for something as opposed to against something, they shouldn't be unduly chastised.
hmm.... what if they aren't the same number?
I.E. - how much value does a cashier bring to Walmart? $21/hr?
Why do you think that?
you , like Zito, don't understand the significance or the context of the $21 per hour figure
you're thoughts on the Mother Jones article?
I do understand it...
You didn't understand my question.
Should a business pay someone $21 an hour (or $15, or $12) if the employee only provides $8/hr in value to the business?
again, the $21 an hour number is the rate had minimum wage kept pace with inflation.
I wish that it had and hope new legislation mandates it does.
That is the context and signifigance.
Secondly knowing full well I favor half a loaf over no loaf, with the difficulty getting it to 15, how on the world would it realistic it going to 21.?
You are,arguing with yourself
who determines the $8 per hour.
The supplier of the labor or the demander ?
Kind of a question with no answer
or an answer in search of a question
Steaksauce you need to learn to debate, you bring some weak ass **** to this game.
who's debating? I offered an article that poses both sides from a source not know for exploring both sides
1. Hillary has changed her stance so many times on minimum wage how can you clearly say it's what she wants? ANd in a way isn't regionalizing it kind of like leaving it up to the States? Which you basically just derailed. Many places already more or less have a regional correction vs. the minimum wage. In NJ I never ever earned below 10 an hour back in NJ back in the late 2000s, I could go back there and make 15+ an hour right now. Because jobs there already pay more because COL is more expensive. What she's saying is just bull****.
Sure she has. But she has adopted Sander's view.
Why not just declare a win and move on?
However, Sander,Clinton or Trump will have to deal with the number Ryan,Pelosi and McConnell hammer out.
My guess? It comes out to be a bil along the lines of Clintons debate stance - $12 base with a local COL index up to $15
2. I'm going by Trump's most recent statement.
Which one ?
3. Glad you admit that you don't have any issue bringing up non-issues in an attempt to slander competition. Glad you're swiftboating her.
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about
4. You can't just throw the market at that. And realize as well the difference in the labor market of the 70s vs today. In the 70s many families were still nuclear families. Most didn't have both husband and wife working fulltime jobs. Could list a number of things that are different.
Yeah, $0.27 a gallon gasoline. Why not, why didn't it keep up with inflation ?
Me and the cashier at WalMart both paid $2.00 a gallon today
5. I'm picking on you for being obtuse and thinking that Hillary gives a flying **** about the Occupy crowd. She is exactly what the OWS crowd is protesting about.
Hillary injected some Occupy language. I really don't think she is going to stand on the front lines.
Tell me, was the phrase "1%" in that context used at either convention in 2012 ? That was all I took from it
6. I read the article, and I read tons of others from other sources. Basically the net gain is negligible as people are earning more but labor is getting cut.
As noted above, I found that interesting from Mother Jones. Curious how that gets corrected d
You are truly clueless
well, who determined $8 per hour ?
Isn't that the issue, who determines the wage floor ?
the business owner unilaterally determines the wage floor ?
If an employee brings a business $8/hr in value (as determined by the business)... should the business be forced to pay more than that for that labor?
