What do morals have to do with economics?

You should be paid based on the value you bring to the business - and the cost to replace you should be considered. It's not a charity.

Morals (or lack of them) is always involved, no matter how hard you try to hide from it. I know including them can be dicey sometimes, but purposely excluding them leads to Hitler's Germany, Mussolini's Italy, Stalin's Russia, Mao's China, and so on. You certainly can overdo the moral viewpoint but you sure can underdo it too, and either extreme IMO isn't a good thing.

So paying people based on economic value can lead to Hitler.

Got it

Oh... so if I want to get a gun (my constitutional right)... you want me to wait at least a year and lock in a vault when I finally do get it.

And you claim you don't want to restrict law abiding citizen's constitutional rights?

Oh... how's the violent crime rate in Sweden, by the way?

Wow, I gave you considerably more credit, both personal and cerebral, than what it took to make that kind of response. I stand corrected on my value judgement.

I don't view economics as a moral choice... It's objective

I see corporations giving great health insurance, 401K matching, paid leave, big charity donations... and then have to read how greedy they are... it gets old

That's a decent but somewhat one sided response but hey it's about a million times better than your last one so I guess we can go with it.

if you have to tell this to someone

it's like talking to a kid in Poli Sci 101 thinking he has it all figured out already

Aww... So when is it ok for employers to take some profit?

If they can afford to pay more, they should, right? I mean... That would imply they should have 0% profit... but it would be moral
