I'm afriad we are a lock for #2...it's what we do. Just like last year. Just watch us win like crazy in Sept.

I'll take #2 overall pick if it comes from the Braves having a great last month to the season. Finish strong going into next year. Theres plenty of top talent in the upcoming draft.
Is it possible to be bad enough to get both #1 and #2?

I don't think anyone can complain about that (or shouldn't anyway) if we are being led to wins by young players performing well. If guys like Ender, Freddie, Wisler, Folty, Cabrera, Swanson, etc that are here for the long term are leading the charge for the 2nd pick then that's fantastic.
Twins have totally collapsed. Hard to know what their September will look like. All their top prospects are on the 25-man right now. Of course, the Twins do stupid stuff like bring up Logan Schafer and actually give him ABs. I can't believe Molitor is safe.
There will be a lot of great players in the draft, so I'm not worried about where we'll end up (likely in the top 2), but there are a few teams in striking distance of passing the Braves in the quest for the gold or silver. San Diego and Tampa Bay are the dark horses here and don't count out the Reds.
For me it is not really the player loss right now. It is the pool money. That #1 has a huge bonus pool difference that you can really exploit in the later rounds.
Good point. Didn't think of that angle.
yeah, that #1 could increase your pool spending by almost 2 million for the entire draft. That is a lot of $$. I still think Coppi will go aggressively after a comp pick again next year. Especially since he can't do much internationally.
