They qualify this as beyond expectations, so they don't include Freeman, Teheran or Swanson.

1. Kemp/Inciarte/Markakis

2, Jace Peterson

3. Mike Foltynewicz

4. Mauricio Cabrera

5. Ozzie Albies

A few months back, a certain board know-it-all told me that Heyward was having a better season than Freeman.

Freddie Freeman? Or was that too obvious?

You missed the first line. No Freeman, Teheran, or Swanson because they weren't major bright spots relative to expectations.

I would disagree, though. I would say that even factoring in expectations, those have been our 3 biggest bright spots. I'm sorry, but Mauricio Cabrera has not surpassed expectations more than Freeman this year.

I think Freeman increasing his power to a 30+ homer guy is a big deal.

I agree. Several folks have predicted it going back a few years, and he certainly has the raw power to do it, but I can't say I ever EXPECTED him to.

Freeman is having a career year, folks, that is all. I expect him to be the same old 850 OPS guy going forward that he was before.

Millwood....does it rain everyday where you are? Your observations are interesting.

No it doesn't rain everyday, but we haven't one a single playoff series since 2001. Think about that, 2001.....15 freakin years ago. We've lost 8 straight World Series games. And we haven't won the damn thing in 11 years despite having multiple playoff teams with HOFer's on it, and after the run all ended...and things started to look upward about 2010 with all the young potential talent coming to the horizon again we we're crushed with season ending and in many cases career ending injuries as well as multiple players that didn't live up to the hype....Heyward I'm pointing directly at you. The rebuild was the right thing to do, but I'll damper my optimism with realization until I actually see some damn results.

I wish Kevin Millwood would have gotten a ring. I wish Andruw would have gotten a ring. There are numerous others. All I can think of is that damn slider that Wohler's threw to Leyritz that changed the culture of our organization and fan base forever. If that event doesn't happen, we had a potential dynasty run that Yanks fans would loathe at. Instead we are the laughstock of the league. The freakin Marlins have more championships than us, and they are the absolute worst organization in all of baseball. The Giants have more World Series than us in the last 5 years alone, and their organization pails in comparison to what we had here in the 90's.

There you got it?

No matter what the voices say, don't do anything to Wohlers... It will not be worth it!!!

It's kind of difficult to sympathize for someone who had the rarest of opportunities to live through the disappointment of the great sustained playoff run in baseball history.

But that's just me.

English, please.

There's dampering optimism, then there's what you do on a constant basis.

You are a troll. You may be fine with that, but it's what you are.

Considering that Kemp, Inciarte and Markakis are pretty much posting seasons in line with their career norms, I fail to see how they are a bright spot when Freeman improving his OPS by 100+ points over his career average isn't.

Kemp is still a bad defender with power. Inciarte is still an elite defender with average offense and no power. Markakis is still an average hitter with little (or none) base running or defensive value.

Freeman has turned into a .950+ OPS force that has been worth over 6 WAR. That is a huge deal, especially considering the contract he is signed to and the scare his wrist gave everyone early in the season.

Kemp went a long way towards redeeming his crummy defense with those two diving catches Monday night (check the video; I kid you not). But I continue to see Markakis' value far differently than you. I am very satisfied to have him hold down the No. 5 or 6 spot.
I will ask you this, as I know I will not get a hype answer. IF Kemp comes to camp down 15 pounds, what do we have a right to expect?
