I wonder if the Braves worry about pitcher mis-use out there. I may not be remembering right but it seems like they don't send a lot of high end pitching to the AFL.

Sent Lucas Sims last year, Tyrell Jenkins the year before, Zeke Spruill in 2012 I think, and Sean Gillmartin in 2011. Each of these guys at the time were considered one of our better pitching prospects. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Almost feels more like the arms they send out there are ones they would consider shopping to an extent. Someone who hasn't made the adjustments that were hoped for with the help of our coaches and instructors - not necessarily guys that they've given up on, but that maybe they hope might benefit from another voice, or someone they think another team will see and think they can "fix" easily. Ellis definitely feels like he fits that mold to me.

Game of October 11

Peoria 7, Salt River 7 (11, tie)

SALT RIVER

Game of October 12

Salt River 6, Scottsdale 4

Demeritte 1-4, R, RBI, BB, SB
Peterson 1-4, R, BB, SB

Best pitcher they have sent there in the last decade was Hanson.

That's what I was thinking. I don't know if that is a reflection on the Braves lack of minor league pitching or a philosophical thing.

I know they sent Sims last year but he missed a bunch of time from the bus accident.

Peterson 1-4, 3B, R
Moore 1-4, SB

Demeritte and Moore are very interesting prospects. With Adonis, Ruiz, and these guys I think we may have a pipeline to get us to Riley.

Peterson 0-3. K (.182)

Phillips 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Scivicque (DH) 0-3, K (.143)

Klaw is pretty high on Demeritte. He loves his defense and power.

JMO, but he's going to have to make awfully big strides to improve that K-Rate if he's ever going to become a regular. Of course if he can at least cut it some, be could be our version of Baez - giving Albies. Rio, and Kemp a blow to keep everybody fresh all the time. Ozzie could slide over when Swanson takes a day off. He could fill Jace's "super-sub" role when he gets more expensive.

Demeritte already walks a good bit to go along with big power and apparently excellent defense. If he improves his K rate significantly, there is a good chance he would be a starter.
