Kemp to DL

If the Braves had SRod instead of Phillips and Kemp was injured, the Braves would still be starting Jace in LF, or at 2B if SRod moved to LF.

The SRod injury had no effect on how bad the Braves bench currently is.

The effect at the moment is the same. I'm not talking about the moment. I'm talking about overall. Overall we have a lot less flexibility without SRod. With SRod, you just have to worry about cobbling together something at second base in order to back up about 5 different positions. And once Albies arrived on the scene you'd be in an even better situation.

OK, but we are currently in the present. In the present, there is no Albies at 2B. In the present, the Braves would have been cobbling together a replacement for Kemp right now no matter if they had SRod or Phillips.

I don't see the difference in cobbling together a solution at 2B vs cobbling a solution in LF. At the end of the day, this FO failed miserably when it came to assembling this bench.

The difference is the way we constructed the bench originally we only had to cobble together a solution at second and with Albies waiting in the wings we had more options there. Now we have to worry about cobbling together a solution at half a dozen positions should there be injuries. Instead of a solution at second being a solution at third, first, left, and right, we now have to worry about having options at all of those places. Our bench is much, much thinner now.
