MINORS THREAD 4/12: Wednesday's Schedule ... Rome improves to 6-1

Same reason Dan Uggla can go unprotected after hitting 297/378/502 - 880 in AA

Uggla was a 25 year old 11th round pick.

TD was a 1st round pick who had a 915 ops as a 21 year old.

I don't see this being the same scenario.

Their pedigree is different. But I am referring to how easily it was for them to switch teams. Other team simply gave up on them.

Lol.. Evan Phillips and Danny Reynolds just gave up a 7 run lead in the Miss. game.. Wow.. Reynolds came in and threw 11 straight balls..

The Uggla to TD comparison makes no sense to be at all.

Uggla was a slow, avg 2B who had power.
TD is a fast, above avg 2B who has power.

Both 2B, both had/have power, but what else profiles the same?

I just don't understand why the best the Rangers could do for him was Lucas Harrell.

Agreed about being given up on but TD was doing great for them. It makes no sense. I wonder if he has really bad makeup issues.

Seems like a steal to me. Hopefully he keeps up this years upward trajectory. Seems to be trying more for contact / line drive instead of HR swings.

As hitters they both profile as low avg, good walk rate, good power. And in the end it's what TD does at the plate that will determine if he will be a starter at this level.

Agree on the starter note, but seems to be a more complete player than Uggla was. His defense & speed play at the next levels.

Odds are still super high that he fizzles out. Having a K% in the 30's as a 21 year old in A ball is a serious red flag.

After a shaky start, looks like Wisler put together a solid game. Only one game, but I still cheer for him to FIND IT...

This is a great stats\scouts debate.

The people still down on TD are the ones basing it off his A ball performance. The scout community heard the buzz from him being in the AFL and scouts impressions and his improvement as the year went (and defense!) for their opinion basis.

Who is down on him? I think most people are encouraged by his big drop in strikeouts.
