SATURDAY MINORS FINAL: More Aces than pinocle

Jumping high A and going straight to AA is not supposed to be as easy as Soroka is making it look. That kid is just scary good.

So much fun to look back at draft threads. Cant wait till ian Anderson makes so many on this board look foolish.

Most of the discussion on him has revolved around him having #2 upside rather than the true Ace upside people wanted to see with the #3 pick. How would thinking he'll be a decent #2 prospect and preferring Lewis to him make people look foolish exactly?

He's impressive for sure. I think the most exciting thing is he is managing to keep the K rates high as he's moved up despite being a sinker style pitcher. That bodes really well for the future.

If Ian Anderson was a #2 pitcher than the pick would be a great one.

It is a super small sample, but it is interesting (and to some critics unnecessary) to rush these pitchers. The early returns are quite impressive...

Soroka (19), jumped from A to AA, 2 starts, 11.2IP, 1ER (.77ERA), 14K, 0BB, 0.43WHIP

Allard (19), jumped from A to AA, 2 starts, 10IP, 2ER (1.8ERA), 8K, 3BB, 1.2WHIP

Weigel (22), jumped from A to AA, 5 starts, 29.2IP, 7ER (2.16ERA), 28K, 12BB, 0.97WHIP

Fried (23), jumped from A to AA, 2 starts, 7.2IP, 3ER (3.52ERA), 6K, 5BB, 1.4WHIP

I know Weigel made his jump at the very end of last year, but he still jumped a level to older and better competition. To me, I really love Fried and SSS shows he has done the least (6IP, 2ER today though).

It is going to be a fun year. All 4 of these guys could be ready at some point next year. Plug-n-play rotations?

If Ian Anderson was a #2 pitcher than the pick would be a great one.

Not if the players we passed on wound up being better and legit all-stars/Aces. At the #3 pick in the draft we better be getting at least a #2 starter if we pick a pitcher, or else we are going to be having a bad time long term. At any rate, once again the people you are complaining about are expecting him to be a #2 starter type at least, so not sure how you figure they are going to look foolish.

That K/BB rate for Soroka so far is absurd.

Good news is they should all have an easy time finding a spot in the rotation if they are ready.

What?!?!! Why don't you go back and look at how many top 3 drafted players never make it. To say we should expect at least a #2 is insane.

Right now if the league could redo the 2016 draft. Does anyone honestly think Anderson would not be a top 5 if not top 2 pick. Knowing what we know now.

I didn't get to watch Soroka start. But I am not surprised by the results. I have seen him twice and he is the real deal. Legit ace material. Unbelievable comand and composure. The scary thing is that Anderson looked just as good if not better. I love fried and touki. But they don't look the same as those two. Soroka is going to steak roll AA.

Thank you. It's so ridiculous when fans on a messsage board criticize a professional baseball organization on picking the wrong guy who can't even drink yet. So far Anderson is showing the stuff /performance that exceeds a #2 ceiling but if you listen to the braves they always thought he had ace caliber stuff.

Ironically it's a lot of the same people who blasted the Soroka pick.

3 potential plus pitches with a great pitchers build. Despite what many say here Andersons stock was risking fast based on his most recent showings.
