SATURDAY MINORS THREAD .... GAMES OF 5/6

Fried with 3 ER allowed through 6 but 1 BB and 10 K. Whoever said Birmingham's lineup is terrible appears to be correct.

Don't think it's going to be happen but we need to be prepared that Albies and Swanson could both bust. We are in big trouble if that happens. Thankfully time is still on our side

His confidence has been hurt because he obviously should be playing every day at the ML level with Swanson..

His feelings certainly are hurt. And it could be that he won't be signing an extension when the time comes cuz the team gave Swanson preferential treatment. Yet another negative from promoting Swanson too early.

2 BBs and 17 Ks in his last two starts from Newcomb. That deserves some acknowledgment. He and Sims are providing some glimmers of hope. It would be yuge if those two stepped forward.

Not worried about Albies at all. We are talking about 119 PAs from a 20 year old in AAA. We knew he relied on his hit tool and aggressive approach for production, and now we are seeing him face the reality that he will have to adjust his approach.

It is good he is running into these issues at AAA, unlike Swanson running into his issues with the slider at the MLB level while his service clock ticks away.

Anyone know how long would Swanson have to stay down in AAA for the Braves to regain that extra year of control?

Carmargo has been a nice surprise. But the sample is small and part of his success has been BABIP driven. I think he'll end up being a solid utility player.

Love the high Ks and low BBs from the minors today. Newcomb was especially encouraging. The high pitch count needs to be worked on but that's often the very last thing a pitcher figures out. Also, the defense let him down a bit.

Just wish we'd see more walks, that's really the only blemish on his season so far.
Agreed, but as I've said me than once, I'd rather the Braves make these types of trades and gamble on talent. Jackson couldn't get out of his own way in Seattle system so to see what he's doing is pretty sweet.
