GDT: 5/17 Braves vs Blue Jays

Its a cumulative crow eating.

Hasn't been great of course but the overreaction looks amusing in hindsight.

I don't think there was much overreaction; he began his Braves career as an unnecessary expense for a team in total rebuild, and he remains an unnecessary expense for an noncompetitive team hoping to be shedding their rebuild chrysalis right about the time his deal expires. I hope he keeps the .400 BABip up through July, though, as I'd love to see the Braves gain a prospect or two for the trouble.

I will gladly laud Neck's ineffable adequacy. I mean, he's really, really ok. He laces 'em up every night and is usually a very slightly above average big league hitter, if you don't adjust for position. He has undoubtedly earned his market-value paycheck for a veteran gap-hitting RF with a good work ethic and no power at all. I have definitely come to appreciate his professionalism and consistent mediocrity. He's what BJ Surhoff should have been.

This might be the most damning faint-praise this board has seen. I donate to a Kickstarter campaign that'd send Markakis a trophy with Best Peak-Level BJ Surhoff Impression enameled to it.

This is the best combination of accurate and amusing I think I've ever seen when describing a player's performance. Covers Nick perfectly.

Did we really just listen to Chip say the NL has the advantage in interleague play because they don't have a real DH?

Pitches are starting to pile up for Folty. Needs to get this inning over with and not give up any more runs.
