SATURDAY MINORS FINAL 6/17 ... FSL All-star game tonight

weren't there stories in spring training about Fried having some of the best stuff of all our pitchers and discussion he would soon be on the major league team

No they weren't. 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings is never good. He has an era over 5 in AAA. Time to let it go.

Sorry, all the runs were in 1.1 ip (4th thru 5.1). You're right, that's not good. Still that ended a streak of 10.1 ip of scoreless work.

Do I think he's gonna make it? Nah, not really, but I think cutting him would be pretty dumb if that's what you mean by "time to let it go"

They need to put him in high A. I am confused at how good he looked in spring training. It's so weird because he was a injury liability, but his stuff was always a no doubter.

His stuff really never has been "no doubter" material though. He's still living on the coat tails of being a top 10 LHP pick. Even before his injury in rookie ball and A ball he had mediocre stats with bad peripherals. He was still walking 4 batters per 9 back then. I think we need to be honest that Fried's career just hasn't been very good even when healthy. His raw stuff is nice but he's never been able to show more than a glimpse at times in real games at the pro level.

I hope Fried has a hot second half again so we can trade him for a nice return as a part of a package. The other big time arms have better potential.

Harrington should help the MLB pen by the start of 2019 at the latest. I think he could help after the trade deadline in 2018.

Yes. I can remember at least two posters proclaiming Fried as our best pitching prospect.

All the non braves people I read still have fried as an elite guy. Klaw said he was having issues from the stretch and used the word elite.

Fried in spring training got his hype way up. He's still coming back from tj. Sometimes those guys go through peaks and valleys. He will be in aaa next year and do well

Its a mixture of two things. Fans want to find reasons to say rebuilding with pitching is a mistake and in general fans are way to fickle with prospects. Development isn't linear.

It's also that Fried just hasn't been very good this year. Nothing wrong with pointing that out.
