Why haven't the Braves sent Dansby to AAA?

https://twitter.com/DOBrienAJC/status/887046513788166144

If we aren't going to play Dansby often, we should send him to AAA for regular playing time so he can improve. Also, it would allow us to get an extra year on his contract depending on how long we demoted him, from what I understand.

Why on earth are the Braves keeping him up to be a pinch runner?

They wasted his value by promoting him early. Now they are wasting his value letting him rot on the MLB bench. The next mistake will be to sell low on him and trade him away.

And this is the FO you all are so confident can suddenly build a contending team at the MLB level?

Do you get any attention in your day to day life?

Any merit the FO had calling up Dansby early (which wasn't much tbh) has been completely eroded with this weird Constanza treatment.

There is nothing wrong with demoting a player. Just do that.

That would mean admitting they were wrong in bringing him up early to sell tix...I mean Jesus it's not like it's unprecedented, Schwarber exploded onto the scene last year pre injury and the Cubs weren't afraid to send him down this year for a little while...

The Cubs are currently better run than the Braves. I'm not as cynical about the Braves' FO than some, but I'm also less blithely optimistic than many. Swanson, for one, has been and is being pretty mishandled by the Tripartite John.

The Cubs FO is smarter than the Braves, but they are showing some cracks too.

Holding onto Schwarber this offseason was a huge mistake everyone else saw coming.

Not expecting heavy regression from their SP staff was also a mistake everyone else foresaw.

I know they are in the middle of their contention window, but they have essentially depleted their entire farm by acquiring Chapman and Quintana.

Schwarber should have been flipped to an AL team to supplement the rotation, and that was clear all offseason.

If you squint, you can already see the end of the Cubs window coming down the tunnel.

The safety net for the Cubs is their financial wherewithal. They can still operate/compete with a gutted farm system in ways a team like Atlanta can't ... we saw Theo do this to an extent in Boston. Having a deep prospect pool is lifeblood for a team like the Braves.

A question RE: Swanson and his service time.

Say the Braves sent him down tomorrow, and didn't recall him until the September roster expansion. Would Swanson's September MLB time count towards his service since he started the season with the MLB club? Or would he be in the same boat as Albies, Acuña, or the rest of the minor leaguers who are added?

Service time is time accrued on 25 man roster.

My goodness these guys in the FO are idiots. Stop toying with a guy that's supposed to be one of the faces of the Braves moving forward. Let him sink or swim.

Pretty easy decision to send Swanson down. People are blaming Snitker, but I don't see how you can blame him for playing the hot hand while the Braves are competitive for a playoff spot.

Swanson needs to be playing every day, either in MLB or AAA. It's continued mishandling of the kid.

I'm a huge fan of Camargo, but I can't see benching Dansbo for what is likeliest to be an unsustainable hot streak (thanks to whoever namechecked Constanza). I have always maintained that Swanson is more likely Stephen Drew than Barry Larkin, but if he's the future, he needs to be in the lineup now. Otherwise, he needs to be playing every day in AAA.

Even having playoffs on their minds this year would be pretty dumb. Let him play

I expect to see him in the lineup 2 or 3 games a week. I have no problem keeping him on the major league roster. He's not going to be wasting away on the bench.
