1. If they do, they don't care about it... making them pretty ****ing stupid
2. Doubt they look at BB rate because it's not on the scoreboard
You don't actually believe the front office doesn't know how the service time works do you?

I'll repeat... if they do understand it, then they don't care about it... which makes them stupid.
Which goes back to my original point, I don't think the FO is smart enough to use a valid baseball justification to keep him down long enough to maximize service time
We can assume they know but they've shown no evidence that they do. They seem to be stuck in 1995 so I have no idea what they do or don't know
I think they understand what it means and the rules. I question whether they understand the impact of not optimizing it
You don't believe the braves front office can perform simple math?
I'll say this for like the 10th time... if they can, they are ignoring it... which makes them stupid
LOL I'm not sure why you go round and round with him. Surely you know by now whatever the FO does is gold according to him.
And yes, they either don't know the service time rules, don't know how much value it costs them, or don't care how much value it costs them. All 3 possibilities are equally upsetting scenarios to consider. After the Swanson and Albies promotions, there is little room for debate on the topic.
My guess is there are a few analysts who have provided the data, but the stone aged decision makers don't care to consider it.
Or they know the service time rules, know how much value it costs, care how much value it costs, but value other things more in certain cases.
Again, I disagree with them on guys like Dansby and Albies, and I would certainly disagree on Acuna or Gohara, but pretending the only options are 'don't know' or 'don't care' is pretty ridiculous.
After all, if you think the Braves' FO is so dumb they can't figure it out, then that is also the case for just about every FO in baseball. Since just about every FO in baseball calls up top prospects either late in the year or on Opening Day. To you, this means they're all incredibly stupid. To me, it means they are factoring in things we aren't considering, or valuing other things more highly than we are.
Tell you what...
A few years from now, when Albies and Swanson and Acuna are nearing the end of their team control, we will look back and decide how much we wish the Braves had that extra year of control over a 29 year old Swanson, a 27 year old Albies, and a 27 year old Acuna.
I'm willing to wager almost anything we will not be happy with forfeiting $10M-$20M of value for each player in 2022+ when the Braves are legit playoff contenders with a mid-market payroll, and all they got in return was a few weeks of meaningless production in 2017/2018.
Until then, I have no doubt you guys will blindly defend the FO with any silly line of defense you can come up with.

I think you misunderstand some of what we are saying. What you refer to as blindly defending the FO every move is really more about looking for an explanation and understanding what they are doing. The negative approach is to say "What idiots. They don't know what they are doing." The optimistic approach is to say "I am not sure what they are doing, but here are some plausible explanations." One assumes they are idiots, the other looks for understanding. Down the road, it may turn out that they were wrong.... or right, but calling them idiots now without knowing the rationale behind their moves ignores the fact that they are professional with data sources that we don't have.
I just can't be a fan of a team that I think is run by complete idiots. If I believe that, I will look for another team to follow... therefore, I will try to understand before I default to The FO, all the players, and all the prospects totally suck."
I think it's crystal clear why the Braves are not properly valuing the loss in value from promoting these prospects.
They are doing it to drive excitement and attendance for the new ballpark...which is the motivating factor behind all sub-optimal moves made during the entire rebuild. From HO, to Kemp, to Markakis, to packaging BJ with Kimbrel, all the way to the Albies and Swanson promotions.
Knowing the "why" behind bad moves doesn't make them any less bad.
Next time you are in a meeting in the GM's Office, post the transcript so everything will be as crystal clear to all of us.
