According to Statcast's average sprint speed stat (ft/sec):

https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard?year=2017&position=&team=

Santana 28.8
Albies 28.7
Swanson 28.5
Inciarte 27.5
Camargo 27.5
Freeman 26.7
Ruiz 26.7
Garcia 26.6
Phillips 26.6
Markakis 26.2
Adams (Matt) 26.1
Suzuki 26.0
Flowers 25.8
Kemp 25.6

The overall chart shows the scouting grades should break down as:

80 = 30+
70 = 29
60 = 28
50 = 27 (average)
40 = 26
30 = 25
20 = 24 and lower

Notes:

- The Braves have a guy with worse than catcher speed (35 grade) running around LF, and never sub for him defensively.

- The Braves overall have very slow OFers for their position, even Ender.

- We may be seeing the beginning of Ender's defensive decline, going from 28.3 in 2015/2016 to 27.5 this year.

- Cool to see Albies and Swanson with 65 speed, with Albies verging on a 70 grade.

- I didn't realize Phillips was that slow (45 grade).

- I am interested to see Lane Adams' value when he gets enough max effort events at the MLB level. I'm guessing 70 grade.

- Mallex (29.4) is about 75 on the speed grade.

- Truly 80 grade speed is reserved for Buxton, Hamilton, and maybe Zimmer and Tapia (who I've never heard of).

- Mac and Pujols are even slower than I thought, and would get a 10 grade if it existed.

Tapia is one of many Rockies prospects who seems caught up in a logjam.

He would be another guy that I could see a team trading for.

Altuve at 27.9?

Here are the guys with 20+ SBs this year:

Hamilton 30.2
Gordon 29.6
Altuve 27.9
Andrus 27.5
Cain 29.1
Merrifield 28.9
Nunez 27.7

First, I had no idea Cain was that damn fast.

Second, there is obviously more to stealing bases than top speed. There is an element of getting a good jump and acceleration in the mix as well.

Statcast should be able to measure all those things.

Ground-breaking thought! It takes more than being fast to steal a base?!?! I don't need metrics to tell me them.
