It's Anthopoulos

Even when complimenting a Braves move Enscheff must include the postscript of how stupid they are.

That time of the month - oh wait...

What's so funny is that people continue to bitch - it got done. Be happy, go get a beer, and understand the world really isn't going to end over all this stuff...Trump IS President after all.

Good hire, AA is deep into analytics.

Depending what we get penalized with (Maitan kept or not along with others), could certainly see some trades happening.

Other than Syndergaard for Dickey, he did an excellent job in Toronto. None of the players he dealt for Donaldson, Tulo, or Price have amounted to much as of now.

You can also make the argument Moore had been there almost a decade before they were even above .500, several top 3 picks later.

AA took over for Ricciardi and got them to new heights in less time.

You could. Arguments are always there to be made.

You could also argue that the Royals carried payrolls of

07 67m
08 58m
09 71m
10 72m
11 36m (lowest in baseball)
12 60 m
13 81 million (the turn)
14 92 m
15 113 m

You would also want to consider that during the bulk of that time the Tigers were a top 10 payroll and usually a top 5 and that the White Sox were usually easily over 100 million, that the Twins generally cared more payroll, and that Cleveland was generally at last in the same ball park.

The last playoff appearance for the Royals was 1985 and Moore took over the franchise cold when it losing 100 games.

Jays payrolls from 2012 forward were 95m, 117m, 132m,122m,126m,159m.

.....

Given that AA cashed in prospects and spent a lot of money, at time some suggest unwisely, it's an open question as to whether making two WS in KC is better or worse than making two ALCS in Toronto when the AL East was relatively down.

---Also, AA is not particularly credited with being an analytics guy. I'm not sure that working for the Dodgers made him one.

Either way, he seems to share a lot of philosophies with Coppy though we never saw Coppy spend money or make go for it trades, so hard to really evaluate that.

.......

I don't think it matters much, but i don't get the disdain for Moore. He won the WS in Kansas City. And maybe another Series. It wasn't a fluke of bounces. They built a really good team. Maybe they could do it again. I don't know. But I don't really dismiss success just because its convenient.

He should demonstrate his unilateral autonomy by immediately ****canning Snitker and Hernandez.

When the Dodgers looked for their new manager, they were looking for a guy that could effectively communicate decisions made collaboratively by the coaching staff and the FO to the players. The manager doesn't have to understand stats to the point where he is cranking out calculations, but he has to have a naturally curious mind and willingness to buy into them and be able to get the 25 guys the roster to buy into them too.

AA spent 2 years seeing how that dynamic works with the Dodgers, so hopefully he can replicate it to some extent in Atlanta.

That press conference was strange. No Bobby, no Hart, no JS...

Seems like the old guard is trying just as hard to distance themselves from this stink as we are hoping the new guard distance themselves from the old.

It’s the first time in my life where I really felt the team has moved on from the 90’s.

This is the thing everyone should focus on. If AA has full authority he is going to want to customize the roster so to speak. He can make moves without having to justify any other previous moves.

It was reinforced he’s the man and Hart’s in another role like Head Weekday Golfer. No old guard there... smell ya

It really hit me when McGuirk said AA would report directly to him. No Suspenders present when he’s usually the spokesperson for these types of things. Hart stepping down immediately to senior role is just phasing him out quietly.

Sounds like if AA makes us a contender by the middle of this contract he will move up to President if Baseball Operations and hire a GM to be under him.

I am feeling hopeful. Then again I felt hopeful when a Coppy was named GM and we read all about his background, work ethic and pro-sabr mindset. Hope we don t get disappointed this time.

Also interesyed to know if Antho agreed to this on the condition Liberty start increasing payroll.

I️ don’t see how anybody don’t see this as a huge win for the Braves. We are finally on the up swing both on the farm and in the FO. If we can get a better manager and pitching coach then the sky is the limit.

The Braves brass at the press conference. I find it interesting that Bobby is there, but JS and Hart are nowhere to be found.
