I think he means, and if so I agree, that if the Braves had rallied the troops and circled the wagons then MLB would have never gotten enough info to support their harsh penalties. Instead the Braves (Hart, McGuirk and likely JS) tried to throw Coppy and Blakely to the wolves, get them on an NDA with a severance, and clean everything up without anything getting out. What they miscalculated on was that Coppy and Blakely weren't interested in their severance (Coppy thought he could sue, I think Blakely was the woman scorned). Coppy went radio silent and started talking to his lawyers. Blakely sang like a bird and cut a deal and turned on both Coppy and Hart - why do you think Hart got sucked in in a peripheral way but McGuirk and JS didn't? (Blakely wouldn't have had access to those guys).
And now Blakely is meeting with Liberty execs.
