Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Yes - He did fail to disclose a contact at the time but a retrospective analysis (in the article I referenced) leads me to believe that he was not in the wrong to do so. Meetings with foreign ambassadors are common amongUS senators and documentation has showed many prominent democrats met with the Russians at or around the same time.

Whether or not this was the sole reason for Sessions recusal it was clearly a 'fire starter' to get it going and apparently it was based on a false claim that Sessions broke the law.

Sessions's own account is that he essentially recused himself from the beginning of his tenure at Justice, since DoJ regs make it quite clear that it would be recommended he do so. He waited until DoJ counsel recommended it before formally doing it.

Democrats made political hay about it, and the timing of it looked shady...but the question was always "when," not "if."

Do you think he would have recused himself if not for the claims he lied about his contacts?

Again - Does anybody think this is a big deal?

I read months ago that Steele was so disturbed by what he found that he reached out to American intelligence. Maybe others too within the government. I guess that can be spun in various ways.

Sure but the source of the information were Russian contacts who are mostly unknown at this time. Who is to say this information that was so disturbing wasn't constructed as a disinformation campaign by the Russians to bring ouir current political system to its knees? And if the Obama administration is involved then couldn't one make the claim they are essentially colluding with the Russians to stop a democratically elected president?

When Mueller comes out and says there’s nothing to the trump and Russia collusion will liberals finally let it die or will they bring it every few months with ‘new evidence’?

Don't you see whats happening? The Liberals recent actions with Franken tell you what there next strategy is for removing the president. Most of them have moved on and are acknowledging collusion is not a real thing at this point. They are trying to go for obstruction and prior financial crimes. That will end up being a dead end as well.

However, the real play is Franken. They are trying to get the moral high ground here and after a few female Seantors/Congressman move in they will push that the President be removed because of the accusations made against him. Don't think for a second Franken is being removed because the left is disgusted by his actions.

Great article explainin what we will probably see over the next year plus.

I actually think this is probably dead on. IMO it's quite likely that the sliming of Mueller's team and the FBI is aimed at laying the groundwork for defending an obstruction charge.

Funny that it amounts to admission that they're throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Mueller and it's pretty much just a show.

Well, it was conducted by folks who were undeniably partisan, and assisted by ones that were outright activist. And the Clinton camp certainly made hay out of that.

While I think it's reasonable to argue that political motivation affected the scope of the investigation--it sprawled from Whitewater to every Clinton Admin scandal or "scandal," with side trips inside the underthings of various principals, it was ultimately bounded by the facts. Starr couldn't bring charges on Whitewater, Troopergate, the WH travel office, et al ad nauseam. Clinton left the door open by lying about certain Lewinsky-related facts and leaving a trail of obstruction breadcrumbs around same. And while the Starr camp (IMO) did some leaking which betrayed partisan motives, whatever bias they had didn't magically conjure up the ability to find crimes where crimes didn't exist.

There's nothing but smear and misdirection to be found in the anti-Mueller stuff so far. What's wrong with just letting the facts lead and accepting the outcome?

While there are obvious parallels between the two I think the underlying case couldn't be more different. The subject of the investigation into Clinton wasn't a threat to our democracy while the collusion argument against trump is and therefore requires a more impartial investigation.

You've come a long way.

the fascists still think President Obama was sinister and think Benghazi is still a thing and uranium 1 is something too

so, excuse me if you think you get to stand on a soapbox when people are pleading guilty to crimes in this chase
