GDT 9/25/13: Brewers (Lohse) @ Braves (Maholm) 7:10 PM

Braves shutout for the 17th time this year and the 5th time this month. 26% of the Braves losses this year have been shutouts. We're 10-13 for the month. 38% of our losses this month have been shutouts. 3 of our last 4 losses have been by shutout. We scored one run in the other. Over our last 8 games we're averaging just 2.875 runs a game.

We saw 89 pitches tonight. The Braves sent 29 men to the plate and saw 3.07 pitches per AB.

embarassing loss. we get all p o'd in the first inning and proceed to get two hit. The excuse makers said Monday was a normal let down due to clinching Sunday. What's today?

There is no reason. Got a hole at 2B...a bench that can't hit a lick right now. Catchers aren't hitting...and everyone else outside of Freeman has been incredibly shakey. Guys are just worn out including the entire pitching staff. Honestly don't really know what you can hope or expect this team to do vs the Dodgers if we have to play them. Kershaw and Greinke will beat the prison d*ck out of us.

I'm hoping the team is saving up for one more insane winning streak in October. This team is so streaky. Who knows?

I'm tired of September collapses that leave us limping into the post season, if we go at all, and get us bounced at the first opportunity. I don't know what it is but something's wrong with this organization. I don't know if it's poor conditioning or just poor roster construction but this is becoming a pattern.

Last year the team played incredibly well in September. That didn't pay dividends in October. (of course who knows what would have happened if a certain ruling was not enforced.)

Also selfish. I've enjoyed recommending the series and watching friends suffer.

no, you are not selfish. you're a sociopath!

seriously, though, that kind of suffering is enjoyable. Ok, maybe I'm a sociopath.

Looking back they did have a good September. Still, this team has limped into the postseason plenty of times.

The suffering is of a very different sort, but: are you acquainted with Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast?

I want to say it can't possibly get any worse than tonight and that the team has bottomed out but I fear we'll end up with a 27 pitch perfect game tossed against us tomorrow.

I am. But I have not read the fourth, which Mervyn's wife wrote. There was also a short story or novella I read that was a prequel, if I remember correctly.
